Didn't see this one. Glad I didn't. I'll be in Colorado all week, so I won't get to see much Met baseball at all.
Sucks that the Mets had a chance to make some kind of statement to their fans and failed miserably, but that's what they do. At least Niese turned in a strong start.
'7', I agree with you on Citi...I've always said it's a place the Mets happen to play in...of course, Freddy and Jeffy decided the ballpark should pay homage to a team that had left New York about 50 years prior to Citi's opening, which turned some fans off to the building right away. They HAVE taken some steps to correct some of the outright stupid decisions, like building the Mets HOF...but 4978 is right, it's going to take some serious winning before it starts to feel like home. Right now a lot of Met fans hate everything about their franchise.
4978, I don't remember hearing anyone really bitch about the Rock. Not sure what they'd really bitch about.
Re: Ike Davis, I'm not surprised Sandy loused it up. The bigger joke is Doofus actually getting the job, but the good news is by next season, by virtue of the Doofmeister failing monumentally with this latest undeserved chance he's being given, the Mets should be in the market for a real first baseman next season. I don't kid myself...if Davis had been the one to stick around, it might not have gone any better. Oh well...guess it's time to look forward to 20-25 accidental home runs, a decent OB%, and not much more.
THE NHL MUST LOVE THE DEVILS - from who else? A RANGER fan!
[Mark Messier]: A big, bald attention whore with a stupid Easter Island-lookin face. - from who else? DaneykoIsGod!
Even when Marty comes back maybe Larry should put Clemmensen to be on the goal during the shootouts.
Can the coach do that ? Switch the goalies 5 seconds to go in overtime? - Most priceless quote ever posted on a message board.
Martin Brodeur: THE MOST ALL-TIME WINS!, 12 straight seasons of 30+ wins, 3 Stanley Cups, 4 Vezina Trophies, and zero respect from too many so-called Devils "fans" who are either too young or too bandwagon to remember the much darker days of Sean Burke, Craig Billington, Bob Sauve, Alain Chevrier, and the talented but overwhelmed Chico Resch, among many others.
It's easy to support a great player when he's playing at his very best. It takes a true fan to support that same player during those rare moments and stretches when he's not. Babe Ruth went 0-4 some games, and sometimes Wayne Gretzky was held pointless. There may be such a thing as greatness, but no such thing as absolute perfection every single night.
