Did I not say I could see a Vancouver-Rangers style DeBoer-Carlyle swap happening? It looks like step 1 of that is a very realistic possibility.

As much as I can't stand Pete atm we'd actually be getting the worse end of that.

"The Devils have high standards, that's the difference. We have a standard to live up to every year, and a couple of teams in our area don't have the standards we do." - Pat Burns

The New Jersey Devils win Stanley Cups everywhere:
-NHL record for most road wins in the playoffs - 10-1 in '95 and 10-2 in '00
-NHL record for most home wins in the playoffs - 12-1 in '03

Personal opinion, nobody should ever leave a job where they are referred to as a "czar".

How does grand poobah sound?

I agree. I'd be hoping for Trotz if Pete leaves/is fired.

Carlyle's Leafs not only gave up the most shots of any team this year, they're on pace to give up the most shots in 20 years.  The Devils may not look at a lot of stats but that's one they definitely check out.  I cannot imagine Carlyle being the coach of the Devils.

Odin forbid.   I agree, Carlye would be a horrible choice for NJ.

I understand he may be in line for the Florida job....for some odd reason.

I was wrong to ever doubt the powers of Lou Lamoriello.

I fear what this team will be like with a different system, it also hurts the chances of Jagr returning. I really don't want Pete to go, he always had this talentless team playing its hardest night in and night out.

Okay, I'm really going to be upset if DeBoer goes to Toronto.  We've had Sutter leave, Parise leave, Kovalchuk leave, Clarkson leave, and while some of these I'm more glad about than others, I'm tired of people just leaving.

Sutter was an idiot.

Can you re-post that and substitute Niedermayer for Sutter and then I can really feel your pain?

It starts with the front office that needs changing. Ownership isn't an excuse anymore moving forward.

But I have no problem if Deboer leaves. He's eminently replaceable.

Jagr is 42. Great story for a one year stopgap but he looked slow as can be the latter half of the season. I'd have no problem if we cut bait with him, Zids, Deboer, Salvador, and Brodeur all in one offseason.

You get rid of Zids and Jagr and this team is bottom 3 in the league.

First off, Triumph I am with you on the 'tired of people leaving' front. But let's acknowledge that some of those people were shown the door.

As far as Debo goes, I have been clear on wanting him to stay, he has done a good job. However, the Devils cannot score goals under him and that needs to change. '11-'12 we were alright at scoring. These past 2 seasons we have been the worst of the worst.

agree this team would be in real bad shape without there offense that they brought to the table this season.. but depending on what is added or subtracted to the current roster i dont think we need to bring zid back we have enough quality young talent that can step up to the blue line

For next season I have zero problem with that. Give me a high draft pick. Neither Zids or Jagr are part of any serious solution moving forward.

Jagr is absolutely dominating games.  You just aren't watching what is going on.
