What the hell did you guys expect the terms to be? It's 45 minutes into free agency season and we've missed the playoffs 2 years in a row.

AND... the "Assisted Living Home on Ice" continues in Newark. Yet another long contract for a old guy.

My friend didn't renew his season tickets this year... proves he was correct.

he's 32. He's not ancient

Cammalleri at 5M a year isn't bad - to me it beats whatever Vanek gets unless he gives Minnesota a hometown discount, and I didn't want Moulson really at any price (I imagine Moulson will get 4/18 somewhere).  He's a solid fit with Zajac and Jagr but could also work with Elias.  That 5th year will be ugly and probably bought out but hey, that is life in free agency.

wrong side of 30, besides the length of contract in today's speed league

I like this signing. Good production, goal scorer, 5 mill sounds about right. This was the best we were gonna do. He's the type of player that should fit right in.

After missing the playoffs, I'm fine with this deal. I don't care about 4-5 years down the road. I'm in live in the now mode.

I would think Lou will not but that's obviously just a guess.

Your unconditional rejection of violence makes you smugly think of yourselves as noble, as enlightened, but in reality it is nothing less than abject moral capitulation to evil. Unconditional rejection of self-defense, because you think its a supposed surrender to violence, leaves you no resort but begging for mercy or offering appeasement.

Hoping this doesn't turn into Roger Dorn Brian Rolston Part Deux.  Because it sure feels like it could.  I'll be more surprised if it does work out than if it doesn't.

THE NHL MUST LOVE THE DEVILS - from who else? A RANGER fan!
[Mark Messier]: A big, bald attention whore with a stupid Easter Island-lookin face. - from who else? DaneykoIsGod!

Even when Marty comes back maybe Larry should put Clemmensen to be on the goal during the shootouts.
Can the coach do that ? Switch the goalies 5 seconds to go in overtime?
- Most priceless quote ever posted on a message board.

Martin Brodeur: THE MOST ALL-TIME WINS!, 12 straight seasons of 30+ wins, 3 Stanley Cups, 4 Vezina Trophies, and zero respect from too many so-called Devils "fans" who are either too young or too bandwagon to remember the much darker days of Sean Burke, Craig Billington, Bob Sauve, Alain Chevrier, and the talented but overwhelmed Chico Resch, among many others.

It's easy to support a great player when he's playing at his very best. It takes a true fan to support that same player during those rare moments and stretches when he's not. Babe Ruth went 0-4 some games, and sometimes Wayne Gretzky was held pointless. There may be such a thing as greatness, but no such thing as absolute perfection every single night.

This is a good deal and addresses the hole on the top 6.  Cammalleri is a scorer and he supposedly takes very good care of himself, so he hopefully won't fall of a cliff in a few years.   I like it.

He had 26 goals last year, 20 of which were at even strength, but the 3 or 4 years prior he had less than 10 EV goals

not concerned about the age , now, at 32 you're at your physically strongest
