'Reports out of Moscow, Russia says that 35 year old Pavel Bure has had successful knee surgery and is feeling healthy enough to make a comeback to the NHL. Bure has been working with a conditioning coach for the past 6 months and the timetable for his return could be as early as December. There are several confirmed reports that a number of NHL clubs have shown interest in the Russian Rocket. Among the teams vying to allure Bure include the Washington Capitals, Florida Panthers, and the Chicago Blackhawks. Contract negotiations are in the works, and reports are saying that the deal is worth approximately $3.6 million over 2 years. Capitals' superstar Alexander Ovechkin has reportedly said that it would be an honour to play alongside the best Russian to ever hit the ice. Pavel Bure last laced up the skates in the 2002-2003 NHL campaign where he compiled 19 goals and 30 points in 39 games. More to follow.

If this is true I hope he knows what he is doing. For one he is fragile and breaks easily. Another is I hate seeing a great player who is a mere shadow of himself tarnish his image.

I just hope he doesn't wind up coming back and then injuring himslef to the point where he can't walk or something. Because at least he could walk before. If he can come back and play I think that's terrific and I hope it works out for him, I just hope he can walk when he's finished.

Don't think it's worth the risk for Pavel, but it would be cool to see him back. Especially in a Devils uniform.

If he signs with NJ I can see him playing in Albany with Mogilny once again.

Interesting how things work out, I wonder what would have become of Lundqvist if Blackburn had not gotten hurt - Blackburn had a celing almost as high as Lundqvist's.

bure is an amazing player on the ice, but is a seroius cancer that only thinks about himself. he's good for great entertainment and in aiding a team to a certain degree, but he was never the kind of franchise player that could carry a team except for his early years in vancouver
Hahahaha...long overdue. Now they need to get rid of Jacobs.
The problem is, NJ only plays them 4 times a year. We were only able to get them to trade JT and fire the idiot GM. If we played them 8 times a year, maybe Jacobs might have an epiphany and sell the team.

Yes. Blackie. I have no idea what would've happened. They obviously would never have drafted Montoya for starters. So maybe it would have developed into a similar situation with two number one goalies. Kind of like a Richter/Beezer situation where one ends up dealt.

Blackburn actually tried to make a comeback in the ECHL. He had to wear some kind of specially-made blocker thing because he couldn't move his arm a certain way or something like that. I think he retired after last year though.

Yea I can imagine it must have been really difficult playing like that. The special blocker he was wearing was on his glove hand so he couldn't even make glove saves, which probably led to a lot more shots he had to face because it gave up rebounds.That's correct df. so what if bure earns his money on the ice, as soon as one bad season occurs the bitching to the media becomes rampant, demanding trades, demanding coaches get traded, this and that. he's a selfish player, simple as that. he did wonders in florida from a statistical stand point, but few players have singlehandidly forced trades, coach firings, and disruptions like him. even in vancouver, he brough it on the ice, but couldn't shut up off of it.
