You don't really understand market value do you?
The Oilers would have to add a draft pick and another starter to get the league #10th highest scoring defensemen. Forwards are a dime a dozen.

Ick...this is a silly trade proposal even by NJDevs standards. Torres is not good enough offensively to play on the top two lines, he's not going to play LW on the third line so essentially you're trading your top offensive defenseman for a fourth-liner when we already have fourth-liners up the wazoo. Nice.

It gets Matvichuk back in the line-up. But so would Rafalski for Brad Winchester.

Hahahaha...long overdue. Now they need to get rid of Jacobs.
The problem is, NJ only plays them 4 times a year. We were only able to get them to trade JT and fire the idiot GM. If we played them 8 times a year, maybe Jacobs might have an epiphany and sell the team.

I disagree. Torres got 27 goals last year and 20+ the year before playing third line minutes with third line linemates. I think he is definitely good enough to play on the second line. But the Devils top 6 is already set, and as you said, there is no place for him on the third line (unless you knock Brylin down the fourth - Torres can play RW, which wouldn't be wise considering his strong play of late). I remember it being rumored that Lou was eyeing Torres if we were forced to deal Gomez b/c of the cap.
But still this deal doesn't make any sense.
