The goalies are much better than in years past. Why doesn't the NHL make the rinks and the nets bigger. oh wait that would be just like soccer and those guys never score. Screw it, fix the goalies pads. ;)

Forget bigger goals, just crack down on goalie equipment. Ditch these huge chest and shoulder protectors, cut down on the size of blockers, make sure none of the jerseys are loose fitting.

look at Garth Snow, this is a joke!

 You should see Brett Johnson's shoulder pads. C and Jerry will know what I'm talking about, xie calls him big T*ts!

look how wide luongo's pads are, what a joke

goalies shouldn't look like this, I mean he's practically a skating fortress.

remember how lanky tall goaltenders used to look? You had Hextall, Burke, Dryden etc. Now this Luongo guy is also tall and lanky but here he looks like the michelin man. The goaltenders have cheated for too long! :soap:

This reminds me of an Atom and His Package song about how he wanted to gain 250 pounds and play in the NHL.

"In hockey you must score a goal/Which can not happen if between you and the net there's no hole/Some goalies are fast, react at the drop of the hat/But they can't get past me when I got so much fat!

What do you do when you weigh four hundred pounds
You play goalie
What do you do when you weigh four hundred pounds
You play goalie"

etc etc

ugh... does anybody IN this thread actually PLAY goal ???

you know what.. if you're willing to stand there and get essentially with a rubber BULLET at up to 100 MPH, you can wear ALL the pads you like.. you wanna lessen the goalie gear.. then lets go back to wood stick with NO curves since they scored so much easier with those in the olden days too.. it's just another EXCUSE instead of the league just admitting and PROMOTING the fact that some of the best goalies that EVER LIVED are in the league NOW and they should promote their AMAZING abilites instead of cursing their talent each way and back !!!

Pay homage to the INCREDIBLE scoring goalie!!!! :-)

I saw CRASHER trip a kid on skates and then he stole the kids lunch money and slapped his mom when she came to pick him up.. All because the kid looked at his crease

CRASHER's official list of high stick victims from this forum:
gionta182, devilsfan26 .... WHO'S NEXT??

2008 NJDevs Stanley Cup Winner for best overall poster... where's my damn ring?

June 6, 2007... the NHL dies just a little bit.....

If you look at a goalie today, vs. one from ten years ago the guy today is a monster.

There was a time when there would be several 50 goal or 100 point scorers, now there are very very few. Iginla led the league last year in low 90's, that's just not enough.

If you can score 20-30 goals now, you are a top offensive player. If you can score 30-40, you are elite. If your better than that, your at the very top.

Everybody's forgetting their are limits to the size of goaltenders equipment. The league checks them a couple times a year randomly.

The big thing now, is the length of the pads, there is no limit to the length. So when these goaltenders get down in the butterfly there is no gap (if played right the stick covers this area, with these overlong pads there really is no need for the stick there) just one pad running into another.

If the league wants to increase scoring there is a bunch of things it could do. Put the nets back to the old place on the ice, that would increase the neutral zone, increase the curve of the sticks but not to the 2 inch banana curves. These are a few of the things they can do without minimizing the protection goaltenders get or increasing the size of the nets.

well if there are limits, it doesn't look like the NHL is enforcing them. Or maybe they need stricter limits because you still have monsters like Snow, Lalime, Luongo, and Thibault around
