TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed unrestricted free agent Brad Lukowich to a three-year contract.
Lukowich, 30, played for the Lightning during the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons, helping the team to back-to-back Southeast Division titles and the 2004 Stanley Cup.
"Brad Lukowich is a warrior," Lightning general manager Jay Feaster said. "He plays the game with his heart on his sleeve and he does whatever it takes to win. He knows our system, he knows our core personnel, he knows how we do things in Tampa and what we expect from our players, and he is a winner. He is also a very good teammate and a popular player in the locker room. He has personality and spirit and old-school flair about him. We like everything about him and we are thrilled to welcome him back to our hockey team."
Lukowich split the past two seasons between the New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils. In his career, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Surrey, British Columbia has skated in 523 games with the Lightning, Islanders, Devils and Dallas Stars, recording 96 points, 333 penalty minutes and a plus-48 rating.

guys lukowich was a decent contributor but hardly irreplacable
He's replacable, but now we gotta replace two defensemen instead of one, unless I see some more confirmations of Rachunek being signed.

And Rachunek is hardly a D-man I would hope to have for a replacement.
So yes my doubts of this being a reality is more me praying it isn't true.

Since he was paid 1 million last year it isn't too bad a deal. I think the deal breaker for Lou would have been the 3 years.

Lou wouldn't have topped that
1.5 million per year? It's about what I thought he would get.
Maybe it was the years. It is the same as Rachnuek is making.

He was another player who did nothing spectaculary but was good at pretty much everything.
Im still undecided about Rachunek, im hoping one of the Younger Devils has a solid camp (Corrente is my prefered choice, and makes the team)
Best of luck Luko.
