There were nearly 30 college football games on TV Saturday (just Saturday!). This was a big TV week for the NFL with 7 games. The only thing the NFL has over college is a playoff system.

Michigans problem is not their offense, its their defense.  They only scored 7 against a good Oregon defense because of awful turnovers and bad play calling. but they do just plain suck. so does Notre Dame, i see Michigan beating Notre Dame on the back of Michael Hart (who guarnteed victory, btw)

It doesnt matter if there are 30 games on Saturday when only 5 of them are competitive.  and dont get me wrong, I love College ball, but the NFL is an unstoppable behemoth in this country, and is the most popular sport by far. So this is a silly thing to argue, because its a well known fact.

College is so much better than the NFL it is not even funny. You really don't want to bring up competitive games. I mean Sunday afternoon I got to see New England 38 Jets 14 and Minnesota 24 Atlanta 3. Not to mention the NFL's showcase Thursday game that featured a nailbiting 31 point victory by the Colts. Is McDonalds more popular than say Shake Shack? Sure. But there is no contest on who makes a better burger.

Not a big college football fan but I agree...26 games of "West Michigan U - 64, East Bumblef**k State - 3" doesn't appeal to me. Nothing like a close college football game though...very exciting.

Because there are several college football stadiums that can seat over 100,000. If the NFL owners thought they could fill 100,000 seat stadiums they would build them. They are not in the business of making less than maximum profit.

Yeah just because 8-8 makes the playoffs often times. This makes college better. The drama and perfection demanded is better than some .500 team making the playoffs.

So what? Doesn't mean they are entertaining. Are the Oakland Raiders better skill wise than LSU? Probably, doesn't mean I would want to watch them play football.

I wouldn't know since the second game didn't start until around 10:30 and Criminals/Ravens just sounds boring.

The NFL is boring. It is a handful of great teams, a handful of bad teams and a lot of vanilla, middle of the road teams that are just plain boring. The archaic TV rules, late starting weeknight/Sunday night games and team killing salary cap just can't get me excited about the NFL. Give me 94.200 screaming in Baton Rouge or even 1,500 at my alma mater on a crisp Saturday in Autumn over 80,242 at Giants Stadium any day. Give me kids playing because they love football not because they'd love to do another commercial for DirecTV. Give me wake up and watch football straight for 13 hours over blackout rules and my crappy hometown team getting blown out instead of the top two teams in the league because of the NFL's TV rules any day. Give me Hail to the Victors over Hail to the Redskins. Give me New Years Day over what will soon be a March Super Bowl once the NFL decides they need four weeks of hype between the Conference Championships and the Super Bowl. College football, for the most part, is pure. The NFL is manufactured.

As for my opinion on what's better? I think both college and the NFL have their appeal. I guess it depends on what floats your boat. Some people live for NFL Sundays while others like my friend John get all amped up for college Saturdays.

College football has their share of blowouts much like the NFL even in games which are hyped like the LSU/Va Tech game. How did that turn out?

The NFL sometimes has that too. Who had the Pats devouring the Jets? They had to cheat to do it.

If you love more high profile match-ups, I guess I'd say college because sometimes you'll get those big games between two top 20 schools which decide so much in terms of the BCS.

Not that the NFL doesn't have that. There are games that you want to see like next week's Pats-Chargers clash.

It depends what you enjoy better. College has a lot more games to choose from. You might be impacted depending on who you root for. As a Canes' fan, it's kind of tougher to get into it when they're not even in the Top 25 and got their asses handed to them by Oklahoma who btw looks legit. But I'll still try to catch some of the big games.

NFL, you now have three days to watch which is a little over the top. But if the game is good, cool.


Anyway, I think I've said enough here. It's just nice to be able to watch a game and enjoy it unless it's the Giants blowing what should've been a big win because they didn't go to tackle school.

Those will be good games but the two games I am most excited to see today are Ohio State vs Washington and BC/GA Tech. The latter primarily because it will be my first GT game but also two ranked teams in a game that will go a long way to determine the best team in the ACC. That and I farking hate BC.
