:hah: Chargers- 1-3
:haha2:
Second best in the AFC, my a**

More like the Saints of the AFC.

But bro you said it, yes i did say the Chargers would be one of the top teams in the AFC, but they are another one of those teams that no one could have predicted, like the Saints. If someone offered me a $1,000 over under 2-2 for the Chargers, looking at their schedule, i would easily take the over, and i don't know anyone who wouldn't. Well, how bout them Cowboys?

I guess you missed the part when I said look at the rest of the NFC?

I'll take Dallas' 4 wins over the 4 that Green Bay has had in level of quality at this point (though they will play a lot of the same teams and EACH OTHER before it all settles)

but guarantee all you damn want... I don't fall into that crap :P

as of RIGHT NOW, this moment Oct 1, 2007.. there's no better team in the NFC

If only they just played the first month. If that were the case, the 2007 Mets would've been crowned champions.

A lot can change over the course of a season. And as you know, it can happen in the NFL as well.

Right now, you're right. There aren't many great teams in football.

Outside of the Colts and Pats, everyone is a notch below including Dallas and Green Bay.

Are the Cowboys good? Sure. TO is playing well and looks motivated. Witten is one of the best kept secrets at TE and really is the guy you must shutdown if you want to stop that offense Imo. Barber and Jones are as good a RB combo in the league. And even your other receivers are getting the job done before Glenn returns. Romo so far has done a good job in what still is his first full season as starter. Let's see how he holds up.

The D has been alright. It is attackable though. Especially if you throw in the direction of Roy Williams who doesn't have anyone to cover for his mistakes now.

They should win 11-12 games. So if you want to say they're in the mix, I can't disagree.

We'll see what happens.

Week Four in the books, and it’s just as good a way to divert the Mets fans from all the PAIN of a brutal weekend of baseball defeat… so Met fans come off the ledges and let me make fun of your football teams for a few minutes!! But hey I just got told tonight that we can’t count the first four weeks of the season for basing how good teams are and will be.. so I guess we STILL can have that Saint/Charger Super Bowl :P…. However there will be no cupcake opponents on this man’s writing schedule, unlike some college football teams in the area!

Sunday Sept 30:
Green Bay at Minnesota:

People are wondering how the Packers are so good? Well part of it is that teams that were expected to be of quality like the Vikings are just AWFUL… they have NO offense outside of Adrian Peterson, no one to throw the ball too… and while Kelly Holocomb will never be called Favre or Brady, or even Alex Smith…. This Vikings team has ZERO weapons! And yeah the Packers are the allegedly feel good story of the year (I’m just sick of Favre personally and his meaningless records, he’s like Tom Glavine with some talent and heart!), but again.. it’s hard to tell if they are any good or just beating on bad teams (I think I will call this Rutgers syndrome until further notice!).. and we may not even find out for SURE until they play Dallas the Thursday after Thanksgiving (and in case Sun Tavern ain’t got the game… I am taking reservations on my sofa now for it!)

Oakland at Miami:
It’s just now a matter of time before the Dolphins give up on the Trent Green experiment… 158 yards and two picks against this bad (but yet first place) Raider team? I mean I understand the revenge factor and I am DAMN sure the Raiders were all jacked up to win this game for Dante Culpepper (and how awesome was his end zone dance when he scored and pointed to his knee and did an OK sign… TWICE… before doing his little hand jive??)… and the Raiders ran for DAMN NEAR THREE HUNDRED YARDS on the Dolphins… wow… that’s scary….I don’t say this and wonder it often… even the worst of teams pull out a win or two (see the next two games as PROOF)… but I can’t see how Miami is beating ANYONE after games like this!!

NY Jets at Buffalo:
Remember what I said in the NJDevs preview? That this is the game we will learn a lot about the Jets D? And I think we found out something about the Jets O-Line too… they ain’t that good... look how Buffalo STUFFED the running game (with half their starters not playing this game) and the Jets didn’t do diddly on the run either… but the passing game on both teams was enough, until Chad threw that soft 4th Quarter INT, and add in that Trent Edwards had enough time in the pocket to make a move on some of Tom Brady’s sloppy seconds (I do love that crack what can I say?)… you can see the Jet disaster indeed!

Houston at Atlanta:
I wish I had sat down and watched this game (but when Dallas is on… America’s Team gets my main focus!)… no one turned the ball over… Schaub didn’t get sacked eight ways till Sunday…hrm.. maybe the coaching staff in Atlanta benching and fining DeAngelo Hall for costing them the game last week actually paid some dividends (Willie Randolph, are you reading this?) in getting some discipline and effort out of this team? Hell even legendary slacker John Abraham gets a sack and a forced fumble in this game! Joey Harrington looked like an NFL QB, amazing how signing a threat seems to have motivated him into knowing this is the last hurrah on the Harrington NFL Career…aside from that… I really don’t know… and I doubt anyone else cares enough for me to go crazy on this one!

Chicago at Detroit:
OK, I still can’t in good conscience give credit to the Lions here… but I need to spew on the Bears here and the MESS this team is as well… and let me be the FIRST to say it… THIS IS NOT REX GROSSMAN’S FAULT… look how pathetic the offense was against that SAME Lions team that the Eagles needed to put points in the bank for TONIGHT’S game, I DON’T CARE WHO IS THROWING THE BALL FOR CHICAGO ANYMORE.. with that pathetic Curtis pecker-sized bust that Cedric Benson is (and boy would BOTH teams love to undo the Thomas Jones trade eh?)… the Bears have the wrong Adrian Peterson.. and who the hell are the wideout options?? Berrian.. average player.. nice deep threat but nothing special…. Mush ?? he’s finished… this team has NO WEAPONS for a QB to use… hell even the 0-4 Dolphins have BETTER weapons then this awful Bears team (who can’t seem to find the end zone unless it’s Devin Hester taking it to the house!)… and the Lions just took advantage of this beaten and broken team!

St. Louis at Dallas:
People can tell you how PANICKED I was over this game, Dallas coming off a big win with the Bears last week (maybe the last time this year you can say big game and Bears, as the Cowboys BURIED them in week 3!)… the Rams are a CLASSIC type of letdown game… no Steven Jackson, and rookie Brian Leonard of the OVERRATED Rutgers system (who was decent in the game at least).. this game just had “fall on your ass” written all over it… then I walk into Sun Tavern (and you know how superstitious I am)…. There’s no Cecilia… I admit I freaked on the inside, though the dopes around me laughed a little too hard when we heard the backup bartender was named Heather (and she didn’t know what a Bloody Brain Shot was *grumble*).. and then you add in the SILENT offense for the first 25 minutes and I was in semi-quiet PANIC mode indeed… then Dante Hall runs that punt back… and you can hear grumbling… and you can almost see me revert and yell at Heather, during a Cowboys game… for old time’s sake… but no first time Sunday Football bartender should be subject to my panic-rage… so I waited (I didn’t want to THINK of food, but I did enough Jack shots thank you)… and then it happened… the play that let you KNOW the game was gonna be ok… 3rd and 3… Romo in the shotgun… the snap goes a MILE over his head… aw sh!t… he bobbles the ball… oh NOT AGAIN… he grabs the ball… turns… gets a block… NO WAY… makes a cut… OH HELL YEAH… and it’s a COWBOYS…. FIRST DOWWNNNNN!!!! (boy I got some mad looks from RU bandwagon-ers for that).. and Dallas was on it’s way… for the Rams the story stays the same… the defense gets worn out… the offense is DEAD on arrival, and Bulger got bludgeoned again and again! And I already begin my concerns with the RED HOT (by Buffalo Sports Standards) Buffalo Bills on Monday Night!

Baltimore at Cleveland:
Wow, this was probably the biggest upset of the day here… the Ravens laid a Rutgers-sized egg (oh you KNOW I wasn’t doing a football weekend without ranting on the stupidity of Rutgers…. I mean for Christ’s sake.... you walk around and pat yourselves on the back for being a top 10 team again, because basically EVERY team ahead of you LOST and you backed in playing minor league GARBAGE opponents, and then the minute a semi-legit team and YOU LAY AN EGG.. much like the one the Ravens laid to get me back on point here….so until PROVEN OTHERWISE I don’t wanna hear a DAMN thing about this soft Rutgers team!!!)… *exhales*.. ok now… did I mention the Ravens laid a total egg here and the Browns receivers embarrassed and exposed the aging Ravens defense ??? And remember how I said the window was closing on the Ravens and this could be the last chance… I think that window just closed on their face… the running game is eh… the passing game is as good as it can be with the team they have on the field… Todd Heap sucks, and it’s all Mike Anstett’s fault :P... and I don’t think either QB is the long-term answer!

4pm
Tampa Bay at Carolina:

I was talking about this game with the night shift bartender (too many a friend were depressed Met fans and wanted no part of me today *grins*)… and he’s sitting there stunned watching this game asking what the hell was up with Steve Smith.. and it’s really simple… David Carr and his little fruity driving gloves NEED TO LEAVE THE NFL NOW… this guy is LOST back there… he has no clue when to get rid of the ball… throws more rainbows then the Lucky Charms guy and Hornswoggle COMBINED… and even the horrific SCARY type of injury that Cadillac Williams took… his leg just SPLIT and twisted and he’s done for the year….Carolina just looks pathetic on both ends of the ball (no sacks again)… the Panthers look as soft and uninspired as the Mets do… guess they didn’t need an energy guy like Keyshawn Johnson eh? As for Tampa, they put a foothold on the NFC South, and just in that makes them a top 4 team in the NFC, a long way from the 4-12 they had last year…..

Seattle at San Francisco:
Another game that ended in the first series of the game… Alex Smith… sacked… hurt… and enter the TRENT DILDO… and it got ugly from there… Seattle did NOT forget the ass kickings they took last year from the Niners and boy did the Seahwaks take it out on the depleted 49ers… Frank Gore did NOTHING today… but I guess once the dust has settled we can say that a certain Trenton Devils poster got banned from the board for saying this pathetic San Fran team was going to win the NFC, and such lunacy can not be allowed to spread!

Kansas City at San Diego:
Damn, remember back when Dallas won that third Super Bowl in 4 years and people said “well ANYONE could have coached this team…” I now present my case against that to the LAST PLACE San Diego Chargers… even WITH Tomlinson almost looking like the Tomlinson we all know and love (in fact I think this is the first time the Chargers lost with LT Breaking 3 digits in rushing).. Rivers was a little spotty in this game, Vincent Jackson again dropped the big pass (he’s like Terrell Owens… minus the all-pro talent!) and the Chargers are just in a FREE FALL… as much as people wanna beat up on Norv Turner let us NOT FORGET the “defensive stylings” of Ted Catrell… look at the losses… 38 to New England… 31 to Green Bay… and you let the Chiefs score THIRTY POINTS (which is like more then they had scored in games 1-3 AND pre-season??)… at least on the bright side the Shawn Merriman Sack Dance won’t be in Prime Time this year… and Bill Cowlher’s price goes up by the loss for next year! I should give the Chiefs credit, but I just CAN'T!

Pittsburgh at Arizona:
You know how most people say they hate to say I told ya so? I ain’t that kinda guy!! I TOLD YOU SO on this one!!! This was a major message game for the staff of the Cardinals and proving to their old team that maybe they hired the wrong guy to run their franchise! Aside from an amazing day from Santonio Holmes, filling in nicely for Heinz Ward, the Steelers did NOTHING on offense all game and neither team really could get things moving offensively... Willie Parker was held in check all game, and the Steeler game really flows from the running backs (well duh… like um.. most NFL teams that aren’t lead by greatness… like Peyton… or Tony Romo *smirk*).. and while Arizona didn’t beat the world down with their offense… Kurt Warner is starting to look reborn in this new system (how does a Born Again Jesus Lover get reborn.. is he now a Devils fan or something cool like that?), and in this watered down NFC, average is good!

Denver at Indianapolis:
Usually in the regular season, this is the kinda game Denver and their running game walks in and beats the Colts face in by just pounding the ball down their throat… this time the Colts did it to THEM instead running up over 200 yards on the ground and didn’t even miss a beat, even despite the losses of Marvin Harrison and Joseph Adaai (but as a fantasy owner of him thank god I got 19 points from him BEFORE he went down, because if you ask me he’s been the most consistent back in fantasy football this year so far)… and it was funny to see Dallas Clark step into the role of Harrison and not miss a BEAT (interchangeable wide-outs eh?)…as for Denver… I really can’t say anything about them I’ve not said before… if it wasn’t for the embarrassing effort of the Chargers this year, people would be ALL OVER how overrated and SOFT this team is too!!

8:15pm:
Philadelphia at NY Giants:

Wow, the Eagles are painfully bad without Brian Westbrook!! You really could have turned this game off when he was announced inactive for this game… the limited running game Phily DOES have was out the window and the Giants just teed off on the pass rush and had a FIELD DAY in this one (though the Giant offense was pretty bad and the Phily D to their credit did play well and kept the Giants in check as well as any defense can be humanly expected to be)…like a lot of teams in the NFL now… I’m not sold one bit on the Giants, but you win the games you can win when they are handed to you and it’s not their fault that Washington and Phily were RIPE for the picking when they played them…

Monday, October 1:
New England at Cincinnati

Alright, there’s nine minutes left in this game in the Bengals’ own building and I still have not for ONE second thought the Bengals had a CHANCE in this one… New England just stomped and rolled over this team.... no Maroney… no problem, New England doesn’t NEED to run the ball on you, they just line up and smack you… and this game was over as soon as the first Cincinnati punt, so I’m not even waiting for this game to END before I write it up and put Week 4 to bed!!

Power Rankings for Week 4
NFC:

1. Dallas (no change here)
2. Green Bay (earning this spot more and more here)
3. Seattle (revenge games are good for the soul!)
4. Tampa Bay (Owns the NFC South)
5. Arizona (big win over quality opponent = a mention in a soft NFC)

AFC:
1. New England (This is beginning to get boring here….)
2. Indianapolis (200 yards rushing on the overrated Denver D)
3. Steelers (looked REALLY bad in Arizona loss)
4. Cleveland (believe it or not, VERY fun to watch!)
5. Oakland (Best team in the AFC West, could it be?)

And you name me a team in the NFL that ISN'T flawed?? The Pats still have a defense that is being carried by this unstoppable offense which MAKES you press and make mistakes and trying to play TD for TD with them and not many teams CAN... the Colts?? We'll see after the Injury reports come out....

The thing that took me the longest to do this week... find 5 good NFC teams for my rankings!!! It's not a good year talent wise in the NFL (and the most MISERABLE Fantasy season I can EVER remember)... but it makes it fun to watch!

The Bengals were able to move the ball tonight.... 11 to 15 yard passes seemed to come easily. I was not happy with the Patriots pass defence.

BTW - I think I heard them say that the last time a team won their first 4 games of the season by 20+ points was in 1920. I wonder if Buffalo Collegiate All Stars used Hi-def video to steal defensive signals?

Statisically we outplayed Cleveland in every aspect, accept the most important: the score.

Losing Trevor Pryce was a huge loss and no one has stepped up to make-up for the loss of Adalius Thomas (who made me miss him more after watching him last night crush the Bengals).

The opposition are just toasting Samari Rolle every week and Rex Ryan needs to set up our defense for a Hurray up drills.

On offense, I think McNair is done. Boller STILL has the potential to be a great QB.

How about big plays though?? That Edwards TD early was a KILLER... going down 14-0 with the Ravens poor (at best) offense was a KILLING blow... I watched alot of that game... Cleveland is a dangerous team now, they are just having fun out there and playing nose to the wind football

Yeah McNair is sadly finished... but again.. what weapons does the QB regardless have to use? Heap ? Mason? Not very many weapons in the arsenal in Baltimore... they're like the Bears, but they have a RB at least...

I was hoping that Clayton and Moore would be "more" effective, but they are not doing much.

I am a Romeo Crennel fan so I am glad they are having fun, just not at our expense.

Gotta agree there, Ravens should have made a more serious run at Stallworth in the off-season me thinks... he's the home run type of guy that adds a "scare you" player on the offense....

and yeah... the Browns success is KILLING ME too :P

The Raiders are looking a lot better with Culpepper as their QB. Raiders might actually have a pretty good season possibly at .500. Culpepper than Russell if needed.

Cowboys look the best so far then I would say the Patriots through 4 weeks.

That's what makes predictions meaningless. Out of the 12 teams that made it last year, look how many are in a bind:

San Diego- 1-3
Jets- 1-3
Eagles- 1-3
Saints- 0-3
Bears- 1-3

Plus the Giants, Ravens and Broncos are each 2-2. Though it's a lot different being in the NFC than top heavy AFC.

You've been beating your chest the whole month. Facebook much? I can't say I blame ya though.

The Pats and Colts aren't flawed and would destroy anyone from the NFC.

Cleveland, Oakland and Arizona in your power rankings??? Yikes.

I'm doing that as more a revenge thing on the Giants and Jets fans i know and the ones I have to mouth off at every Sunday in my bar... like I said... a 24 hour enjoyment period then you stress about the next guys :P
(and I use myspace more.... facebook is for me to talk to ONE friend!)

I get this weird feeling Oakland MIGHT win the AFC West, they are playing the best football in the division... and Cleveland will go 9-7 to piss me off about what SHOULD be a top 5 pick we were gonna get from them, and look at the teams they beat... they spanked around Baltimore and outgunned the Bengals... they honestly had the Raiders BEAT if not for that moronic timeout rule, which HAS to go... and so they got spanked with the worthless Charlie Fyre at QB.... someone is going to trade for Derek Anderson next year and be VERY happy they did... he'll be a better QB then Quinn.. just watch!!!

It's REALLY hard to pick a 5th team in the NFC so I went with who had the most impressive win... Arizona

It wouldn't matter if Oakland started McCown or Culpepper against these teams.

Lets not over rate the Raiders, they are still a very bad team who had the good fortune of playing suspect teams that didn't prepare for them.

Every year it seems we see one or two bad teams from the year before, that improve some and get a 4th place schedule and arise as a playoff team in that season... last year it was the jets (and almost the packers)...it's not as much over-rating them as seeing a trend and trying to jump on it as it's unfolding

this year it looks like it could be the raiders and browns

Ah, what a trip to Miami. Not only does the game get delayed by lightning for a half an hour, I get to see Culpepper shove it up our asses in the worst way possible. *Sigh*. How many more days until the draft?

At least the Bills have a win... man as a Dolphin follower, not fan, but follower, it hurt me to see Daunte scorching them. That one touchdown where he dove in, when he pointed to his knee and gave the "ok" sign, my friend got his Fins Daunte Jersey and went outside and burnt it on the spot, dead serious.

Good for him. I would've done the same if I owned a Culpepper jersey.

Myfoxcolorado.com, Fox Channel 31 out of Denver, is reporting Denver Broncos running back Travis Henry has tested positive for marijuana and might be subject to a one-year suspension. While playing for the Tennessee Titans in 2005, he received a four-game suspension. Henry missed his second straight day of practice on Thursday due to an ankle and knee injury.

Analysis: Henry might elect to appeal this violation, but if it is denied, he would be forced to start serving a one-year suspension immediately due to NFL rules. Under these rules, he can file for reinstatment 60 days prior to the end of the suspension. The Broncos signed him to a five-year contract during the offseason, something they might be kicking themselves for right about now if this report is true. Grab Selvin Young immediately in all Fantasy leagues.
