Seriously, I understand, it is their content. Summarize and link. No big deal.

Doesn't matter, nj.com can still claim they got x amount of hits to the page. Also, I don't think all ads are blockable.
Yea, it's true.
Anyways, I don't see one ad on nj.com thanks to ABP. It's great. You can block virtually all that crap with it. Highly recommended (if you use firefox).

Yeah, I seem to remember this coming up not that long ago, but it seems to have been easily forgotten.Wow, I thought you had mentioned this earlier, when did we go back to posting full articles again?
Well, at least they were specific. Usually nastygrams of this nature simply say "You're screwing us over. We're not going to tell you how you're screwing us over, but knock it off anyway. It's probably easier if you simply cease to exist."They want me to delete all the prior postings as well. This wasn't a generic letter, they named specific infractions and consequences.
Indeed. Some rules are common sense, others need to physically exist in order to be noticed and obeyed.doesnt need to be in caps, there just needs to be a permanent sticky saying how articles should be posted. Yea yea, spare me the "we should all know the rules" routine, clearly some people don't, people forget, and for newer people they might not catch on right away.
of the Devils' mascot, NJ Devil, and
of all mascots far and wide.IT IS VERY HARD TO WIN ONE STANLEY CUP, FORGET ABOUT THREE... and maybe it's high time some of you actually APPRECIATED THAT instead of treating it like it's some flipping birthright because for some random reason you rooted for the damn Devils!!!!!

You can't quote articles in forums that are free to the public anyways? Just curious what the reason for that is. Credit is given to the writers, papers, etc.. NJdevs.com isn't claiming it as their own. I don't see the issue.
There's a certain amount of "fair usage" that you can post on a board: It varies, but typically a few paragraphs is safe. After that, it gets into copyright infringement, according to the lawyers papers hire for such things.
As a newspaper editor, my first concern is that my paper's work is linked and properly credited when picked up by boards and blogs.
But my main concern? That people are READING that material, which is discouraged by legal shakedowns like this.

I would think so...it's all copyrighted material, so better to safe than sorry. Gotta love copyright lawyers!!Does this rule apply to ALL articles, or just Star-Ledger ones? If I posted something, from say, the annoying Toronto Sun paper, would it have to be in the format stated at the beginning of the thread? Thanks for the clarification.
