Back-to-back poor showings by the baseball writers IMHO. Discuss if you care to discuss the MLB in the offseason.

IMO Rollins was the MVP of the NL. Holliday was awesome don't get me wrong, but SS is a very demanding position and Rollins took that team on his back, plus he won a gold glove, plus he scored an insane amount of runs, steals bases etc. Now if Holliday won it, I would have no problem with it either, but I would have voted for Jimmy if I had the chance.

Tim Murray (Buffalo Sabres GM) Quotes:  'It's Easy To Spend Money' "I’ve said at the start that if you don’t want to be here we’ll make it happen'

“We’re more competitive. We’ve got a lot of character now. We have leadership now. That’s important to me when you’re adding young players every year"

Fair enough. I would agree that Rollins was a reasonable choice, but in my opinion not the best. Of course, you can pick out less than stellar stats for every great player, but the .344 OBP really jumped out. On the other hand his 716 plate appearances was a gaudy stat. You can't say that he didn't go all out for the entire year.

I am biased after living in Denver for 10 years, but I would have voted for Holliday. However, I'm definitely not surprised that Rollins won.
