George Laraque (spelling) just NAILED Downie from behind, Downie is lucky his neck wasn't snapped. Isn't on youtube yet but it was a dirty dirty, horrible hit. Yes, Downie deserves payback, but wow, not like this. It happened with 2 seconds left in the second period. If you have access to this game WATCH THE THIRD PERIOD. 2-2 score, it's going to get ugly real fast.
Laraque got a 5 min major and a game misconduct. DEFINITELY a suspension coming.

Larouqe handed Cote his ass in a one sided fight earlier on. Downie got trashed with 3 seconds left in the 2nd period and Steven's put Cote out for the next faceoff and he tried to get Malone to go and was carrying on and got the 10.
Funny how when Bergeron had his season ended with a hit from Jones it was his fault for putting himself in a vulnerable position. Now the Cryer fans don't quite see this one in the same light.

I am only going by what I read online, I still want to see a video. I heard Downie got up and was ok, not knocked out, so which is it? Also, I heard that he put himself in a vulnerable position and looked back and saw BGL coming. Sounds like Downie got what was coming to him.

he got hit from behind with his head down. He was down on the ice for a few seconds but I don't think he was knocked out or anything. Georgie got the 5 for hitting from behind and a 10 for a misconduct.
He was obviously okay enough to play again and mix it up in the third. Not sure you can actually hurt that guy.

i didnt think it was a bad hit at all, a boarding call at worst maybe. downie came back and got into a fight then got thrown out for not having his fight strap secured. it was pretty hilarious.

As much as I dislike Downie, I would not want to see him (or anyone) badly hurt but it is nice to see a guy like Laraque who is willing to tune him in.
