NEW YORK POST: Larry Brooks reports Rangers GM Glen Sather has told the agents for Jaromir Jagr, Brendan Shanahan, Sean Avery, Martin Straka and Michal Roszival that he has no intention of tendering them contract offers before July 1st, making them UFAs free to entertain offers from elsewhere. Sather will check in with Jagr and Shanahan but he wont be inviting Avery back and will try to replace Roszival. Sather might consider signing Darcy Tucker if hes bought out by the Leafs, could pursue Brian Campbell, Wade Redden or Brooks Orpik if theyre available, and might have interest in Vancouvers Ryan Kesler or LAs Mike Cammalleri.
Avery wont be back with Rangers

I wonder what Straka is going to be looking for on the open market.
Hopefully not a job with the Devils, as he is washed up.
Also, re: Avery, it says he is 'increasingly unlikely' to come back to the Rangers, not that it's a certainty. He and Malone will compete for the worst contract handed out this off-season.

Seems pretty definite to me.

Actual quote from the article:
it appears increasingly likely Avery will not be invited to return
The quote in the first post looks like Spector paraphrasing.

Well, then there's this
he has no intention of signing any of them
Thats pretty definite.
prior to July 1
After July 1?
This is confusing. I hope Avery gets picked up by the Thrashers. That would be funny just to see his career go bye-bye.

He's certainly not as good as he once was, but he's not completely useless. Straka can still move his feet and get a little offense going, which is a big thing the Devils were missing this year. Clearly he's not the ideal solution, but would be a decent stop-gap until next off-season if nothing presents itself in the coming months.Hopefully not a job with the Devils, as he is washed up.

Anyone, or none of those players could be back - just like Salvador could or could not be back with the Devs next season.
When you see an actual quote from the GM or player, then you can put some weight on it.
Larry Brooks reports is not the same as Larry Brooks spoke with Sather (or agents) and they stated such and such

Please G-d let Avery go to the Islanders so that the Rangers fans can see what a bitch he really is.

Good Bye and good writens to Avery! I hope he goes back out West so we do not have to deal with his moron antics. Rangers are going to lose more than just Avery I have a feeling.

Could you be referring to this little gem right here?Did anyone see Avery call himself the "fashion police" at some convention? I don't remember what it was but he said his job was "to make sure everyone looks good." It wasn't his most manly moment.
btw this was aired on MSG not E!.
