“The role that they play and the style they play with what we have to do with our offense, I don’t think we could keep both at this point,” Lamoriello said. “It was a very very difficult situation to make the decision. In both best interests to give him an opportunity, we did not exercise our option.”

I can see Lou making it up to Sarge by bringing him back here after his playing days are over.

i would love to see brylin in the front office of on the coaching staff
Or a Devils' ambassador for future Russian signings. Give him credit-- he's about the best English speaking Russian I've ever heard.

I won't ever forget the night Sarge netted the 4th goal of game 4 in the SCF in '95. Love ya' Sarge, good luck with whatever happens, hopefully you'll retire and we can look foreward to hopefully putting your #18 up in the rafters
Agreed. Maybe one day we will. There will be others before Brylin though.
If Lou happens to snag Hossa will he get his #18? Tough call there.

The memories will live on forever and you were truly a legend in NJ.
When one discusses players who are and are not warriors on the ice, your name will always rank up there at the top with the greatest warriors of all time.
Thank you my friend and may God bless.
You were and still are.....INCREDIBLE.
"If you ever had to describe what a Devil player would be," said Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello, "the name would be Scott Stevens."
"He was just huge," Devils left wing Patrik Elias said of walking into training camp the first time in 1995. "I was afraid of him. You had a 170-pound guy coming here and he was 220, 225 with these paws like a bear. I was pretty intimidated the first few years. I'm happy he was on my side the whole time."
