Well good luck to him, sure, the guy was a ranger and a head-case at times, but growing up he was one of the greatest hockey players of my generation.

Good for Jagr.

Where else was he going to play with a chance to win?

Edmonton? Please. Nobody wants to go there.

Once Sather slammed the door shut, it was clear Jagr was going overseas.

Jaromir Jagr signed with a Russian team a day after his split with the New York Rangers, returning to the club he joined during the NHL's 2004-05 lockout.

The Russian League team Avangard Omsk announced the signing of the 36-year-old Czech winger on its Web site Friday. Jagr's agent, Pat Brisson, confirmed the signing in an e-mail, but wouldn't comment on contract terms.

anyone else think the rangers are missing a lot more than they seem to think without having jagirl to control the puck like he does? i personally think the rangers have gotten worse with their signings compared to who they let go this FA period

Really pathetic. The guy is not even worth half that price.

The Russian League has the money to cherry-pick marquee players like Jaromir and they've succeeded in taking one of the NHL's all time best players in history.

They don't care if American's think the price tag is ridiculous or not. They know who and what they want.

I wonder what Bettman and his league of clowns think about all this?

They can NOT be happy because Jagr has left the building.

God speed, Jaromir.

You were and always will be one of the very best.

In honor of one of the greatest dmen to ever play the game, I remain to this day and forever after a lifetime member of the Scott Stevens Fan Club:

"If you ever had to describe what a Devil player would be," said Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello, "the name would be Scott Stevens."

"He was just huge," Devils left wing Patrik Elias said of walking into training camp the first time in 1995. "I was afraid of him. You had a 170-pound guy coming here and he was 220, 225 with these paws like a bear. I was pretty intimidated the first few years. I'm happy he was on my side the whole time."
