"I was just happy I didn't have anymore facial damage. Luckily it was Mike Mottau shooting the puck; He can't hurt a fly with that shot." - Devils center Bobby Holik after being credited with a goal against the Ducks on 1/11/09 after a puck deflected off his helmet and into the net

$800,000. Pro-rated, that's $400,000.

Lou really is a genius.

HA! I thought he was gonna get $3-4 million! Wow, great work, Lou!

But Sather couldn't find room for him to fit under the Rangers' cap. HA!

Goes to show how much Shanny just wanted to play, not so much just seek another paycheck.

If it were anything over a million I'd be shocked. The guy can't skate anymore. There's a reason no one wanted him. I don't know what you guys are expecting.

Was it so crazy to think Lou would give Shanny more than he gave Holik?

Well, yeah, I guess it was. :whistling:

Where did you get that quote from holik. Thats pretty funny
  • 0
"We hit each other with a couple," he said. "But it felt good-- more the part of hitting him that him hitting me. That felt better. But just being in it. It's been a while. It's not something you get to do when you don't play in the NHL and stay out of jail. Usually, that's frowned upon in society. But it's fun to go against a tough guy just to challenge yourself."

"It was a 3-0 call," Bobby Holik said simply, referring to the score at the time. "I think it was the first time ever for the teams I've played for."

"Not for me," he said. "I always try to play well and I always prepare and practice the same way every day whether it's the off-season, training camp or the 52nd game of the season (which it is tonight). That's one thing that's beyond my control as far as three goalies, four goalies and coaching decisions on who plays and who doesn't.

"I like to think that I'm somebody that takes my job seriously and I do those things at a high level. When I do that and practice well and I put in the time and as much extra, the other stuff is beyond my control. I can sleep comfortably at night knowing that I do everything I need to do to help my teammates and to be able to play the way I'm capable of playing when given a chance."

Scoring chances against remain low. Scoring chances for have doubled. It's Sutter hockey, and it's working.

"Sure it's difficult, but you've got to make decisions and Whitey's going to go back in the lineup and someone's going to come out,"

Bobby Holik wouldn't name a (Christmas) song. He said: "Music means nothing to me." When Tom Gulitti of the
Record suggested he'd be called Scrooge, Holik said: "It won't be the first time." -Bobby Holik Christmas 2008

“I made a decision to be here. Just because the team is going through a rough time doesn’t mean you leave. This has become my second home. I love playing here. Patrik Elias January 31, 2011

Yeah, the guy is old but Lou just secured a first ballot Hall of Famer for the price of David Clakson. People would be nuts to complain about the signing now.

That being said, this signing really makes the Holik contract look god awful but that's for Holik thread!

That was the best $2 million dollars ever spent. As seen by his quotes.
