Schnieder 0-3
........ He sucks. IMO, have no confidence in him.
He wasn't brought here for his bat. Clearly until they show otherwise the 7 and 8 spots are going to be question marks.
Sacks are full...

Even when Marty comes back maybe Larry should put Clemmensen to be on the goal during the shootouts.
Can the coach do that ? Switch the goalies 5 seconds to go in overtime? - Most priceless quote ever posted on a message board.
Martin Brodeur: THE MOST ALL-TIME WINS!, 12 straight seasons of 30+ wins, 3 Stanley Cups, 4 Vezina Trophies, and zero respect from too many so-called Devils "fans" who are either too young or too bandwagon to remember the much darker days of Sean Burke, Craig Billington, Bob Sauve, Alain Chevrier, and the talented but overwhelmed Chico Resch, among many others.
It's easy to support a great player when he's playing at his very best. It takes a true fan to support that same player during those rare moments and stretches when he's not. Babe Ruth went 0-4 some games, and sometimes Wayne Gretzky was held pointless. There may be such a thing as greatness, but no such thing as absolute perfection every single night.

lol dude relax, its 1 game. schneider is not supposed to be an above average hitting catcher either..
and meanwhile the bases are loaded with 1 out with Murph coming up.. NEED TO GET AT LEAST A RUN BOYS.
>Murphy grounds out to 1b, a run scores.. Wright coming up with 2 men in RISP and Herrera is coming out.

Gotta admit, I like the new-and-improved nmig. A much more tempered approach.
Murphy drives in another run and it's 2-0!
BTW nmig why are you in class today? Aren't you off this week? Or is it next week?

Listening to Joe and Evan...they just made a brief mention of CitiField. Observations they made that I agree with, based on what I saw on TV:
1) The ballpark seems to be more about getting CitiField's name out there than the team that actually plays there. (The scoreboard comes to mind: nothing but a very sedate "LET'S GO METS!" Does anyone else think there isn't enough Met-related stuff? And I kind of wish the outfield wall was blue instead of green.)
I hope there will be more Mets stuff by the time the real Opening Day commences, I'm sure not everything was put in just yet though the park did look largely finished.
The few ads they had looked huge as if they were trying to max out on what they had. I didn't really think to look for the advertisements or lack thereof but the blocked off areas on the scoreboard were pretty conspicuous.
Dusty getting away with his usual shoddy handling of a pitching staff so far, leaving in Harang for about 110 pitches on a cold day, then taking out the lefty and having the righty face Delgado instead of just walking Wright with a base empty and leaving the lefty in.
The New Jersey Devils win Stanley Cups everywhere:
-NHL record for most road wins in the playoffs - 10-1 in '95 and 10-2 in '00
-NHL record for most home wins in the playoffs - 12-1 in '03

Reds get a run.. the lefty Bruce is up, cmon Johan you really need to get this guy.
-Gets Bruce to pop up.. 2 out.
Wow, Santana is taken out by Manuel......
> Green is coming to face the righty Encarnacion.. i dont agree at all with taking Johan out he was up to 99 pitches.. lets hope Jerry pulled the right string.. if not he'll be taking some heat from the media tomorrow.

A miserable day, a tough first inning...might as well not overdo things with Santana on Opening Day see what this 'pen is made of.
And Murph makes the catch! Yikes!

this is very true, the cold weather certainly factors into his decision. well at least Green got through it! 7th, 8th, 9th to go... this should be an interesting finish..
Hopefully we get some damn insurance runs.

So far Murphy and Church making their cases to stay in the lineup
Yeah, can't really leave in Santana to pitch to Encarnacion because of that and he does see the ball well off him (4-5 with 2 HR's), walking him isn't appealing both because you put the lead run on base and because his pitch total might go up to 110 if he does face the next hitter.

I'm guessing Putz will get the 8th.

Still it is only the 1st game but it seems like the same old Mets when it comes to men LOB. 11 men LOB so far this game by the Mets and it could have been a blowout with a few hits.
KRod we all know will pitch the 9th. Mets new vamped BP so far so good.
It was a nice HR by Murphy and hope he has a big year. Castillo not too bad today with the double and scoring the second run.
Putz, Krod. This is why we got them.
Yep closing time for the Mets. Get er done...
This is what Mets fans have been waiting for and its here in the 1st game of the season.
