One of the metsblog.com commenters said he asked in one of the, I believe, ESPN chats, but it could have been baseballamerica, where Urbina would have gone in the draft and they said he was a 2nd/3rd round type prospect, so that's pretty good.

Your unconditional rejection of violence makes you smugly think of yourselves as noble, as enlightened, but in reality it is nothing less than abject moral capitulation to evil. Unconditional rejection of self-defense, because you think its a supposed surrender to violence, leaves you no resort but begging for mercy or offering appeasement.

Yeah hes 16 years old, i forgot to add in that.. he sounds similar to the Mets 2nd round pick, Steven Matz (whose 18): young kid with a fastball and curveball that could end up as plus pitches.

edit, some more on Urbina, this from Baseball-Prospectus (courtesy to Toby Hyde for getting the quote): "Urbina is a projectable lefty, and is the son of Ugueth Urbina. A number of teams are interested in him because of a fastball that’s hit 92 that he throws with solid command, as well as for his good feel for a breaking ball."

Ouch.

Mets were losing 5-0, fought back to take an 8-5 lead, led 8-6 going into the 9th...then LaRoche hits a 2-run shot off KRod to tie it up. Only the Mets...

Even when Marty comes back maybe Larry should put Clemmensen to be on the goal during the shootouts.
Can the coach do that ? Switch the goalies 5 seconds to go in overtime?

It's easy to support a great player when he's playing at his very best. It takes a true fan to support that same player during those rare moments and stretches when he's not. Babe Ruth went 0-4 some games, and sometimes Wayne Gretzky was held pointless. There may be such a thing as greatness, but no such thing as absolute perfection every single night.

Agreed...it's only two games, but it feels like miles...and the Phillies are playing like crap right now.

I can't kill KRod though...overall he's been one of the best performers for the Mets by a lot.

It looks like KRod gets the chance to lose the game...because heaven forbid these robot managers might go to someone else once the save opportunity goes bye-bye.

4 hits in 0.2 IP

I gotta go with metallidevils now... something is wrong with him it seems, his control is gone.. this is the Pittsburgh Pirates, not the Phillies.

This team is better off losing now so we dont waste Parnell for more than 1 inning and completely kill our bullpen for the Philly series.

Man, K-Rod just got bailed out of losing this game outright.

Well we'll be put out of our misery soon enough since Parnell's all we got left. And to think people complain about the Devils...even with Game 7 they don't have one tenth of the issues this team does.

This might turn out to be a pyhrric victory...no way I would have run K-Rod out for a 45-pitch outing. Yeah the team needed the win in the worst way but you have to watch it with your best arms. Santana's pitched like a scrub since the Mets used him in back to back 120 pitch outings.

anyone here all the buzz about the 21-year-old Cuban-defect Aroldis Chapman? Hard throwing lefty (fastball hit 100 and even 102 mph in WBC this year.. normally sat in mid-90s) with other plus offerings (slider and curveball)... Hes expected to sign somewhere between $30-60M this winter.

buster olney of espn mentioned the mets as a team that might pursue him in the offseason (and he listed yanks and redsox, so basically - big market teams willing to chalk up $$$) .. olney even went as far as saying hes the left-handed stephen strasburg... this would be a hell of a kid the mets to get their hands on, and if Omar is still GM (very likely), im sure he'll be in the mix.

http://sports.yahoo....U...o&type=lgns

"If he wants to avoid the draft and become a free agent, Chapman must first establish legal residency in a country outside of the U.S. or Cuba. The Dominican Republic has been a popular choice. Torres said he hoped to speak to Chapman before he chooses a representative."

So I believe he has to establish residency first, and then wait until regular free agency (next winter).
