Everyone on the Wild message boards are glad Lemaire is coach for us. And this means Rolston will become good again :)

I cant wait to see everyones comments when we are in first place, playing well into the playoffs....... We are clearly the underdog here and thats a good thing. I cant wait until Montreal misses the playoffs or goes out in the first round. Maybe im just drinking kool aid, but I dont see this season a total failure.

Parise,

40+ goals

Rolston & Elias

30+goals

Zajac and langenbrunner

20+goals

Theres your offensive leaders.

we have the same defensive unit. which means they'll have a year playing together under there belt... the best teacher in the business... lemaire knows how to win and win cups. barring injuries, I see this team doing good things this season...... and you can save that print!!!

I think this is the most reluctant hire Lou has ever had to make. He turned over every stone and found nobody else that he could be comfortable with. Lemaire has plenty of faults, Lou knows this. If jacques is too overbearing and stubborn and begins to alienate the team then he'll have a quick hook. Dont be shockef if Jacques doesnt survive the season.

I could buy this.

I think lou's intentions are just to give John head coaching experience and bridge the gap with someone who has been here in the meantime. In 2-3 years Lemaire will be in a retirement home and maclean will be bringing cups home 3 times every 9 years just like it use to be.

This from the Newark Star Ledger:

New Jersey Devils hire Jacques Lemaire to be their new head coach

http://www.nj.com/de...re_jacques.html

Lemaire, who said he intends to coach for more than one season, also said he has mellowed over the years in Minnesota, and is better at communicating with the players than he used to be. He also promised to be more open to having a team that will do more offensively than the neutral zone trap-happy Devils of the mid- and late 1990s.

Hopefully he's not just saying that to satisfy us and the media.

Personally, I would have talked with, Scott Arniel.

But that's just me.

You would have had to ask the Canucks for permission... and you might not have received it considering his contract has just been extended and he'll be returning to the Moose: http://www.theahl.co...rticle_id=10303

IT IS VERY HARD TO WIN ONE STANLEY CUP, FORGET ABOUT THREE... and maybe it's high time some of you actually APPRECIATED THAT instead of treating it like it's some flipping birthright because for some random reason you rooted for the damn Devils!!!!! Posted Image

While certainly not an exciting choice, no one has any sure fire slam dunk alternatives including Johnny Mac (who has no HC experience). I don't think this is a dark day. Give this one a chance.

Not overly excited about it, but it seems the market was barren. If he can get Rolston to perform to the level he had in Minnesota + keep developing the youngsters, I'll be a happy camper.

Just gonna have to take the Wait and see approach.

Now that this is over and done with I guess the next question is. Will Lou make any moves?

Gee...no suprise there...Glad to see Lemaire back behind the Devils bench. Hopefully this time around Lemaire knows he has to be more offense minded than he was in the mid to late 90's. The defense will be good and sharp, but it will be the offense that will be worked on more IMO this time around by Lemaire.

Tremblay and Albelin will be also good behind the bench now as MacLean is the head coach of the Lowell Devils. Next move for MacLean now that he is a head coach in the AHL will be a head coaching job in the NHL, whether it will be with the Devils or not me thinks.

I keep changing how I feel about this. I think a part of the uncertainty is due to the fact that the way he left the Devils the first time. 2 awesome years followed by 3 very difficult years. It's like the saying goes, you can forgive but you can't forget.

On the other hand, like many have already mentioned, Lemaire has a great mind for the game of hockey. One of the best in the business by far. Maybe not everyone agrees with his philosophy all the time but his knowledge for the game can not be denied.

Obviously this hiring doesn't have that "move toward the future" feel to it but that doesn't mean it will be bad. For as much sh*t people throw at Lou for putting together our current roster he really hasn't left us with a bad team. When has he ever? Maybe we finally have someone who will teach these guys how to fvcking win for once. For as skilled as some of the young talent is on this team they have absolutely zero clue as to what it takes to be a winner in this league. They sure as hell were not going to learn it from someone who's body was in New Jersey while his head was up some cows ass 3000 miles away. I for one am sick of watching very good teams completely sh!t the bed once the pressure is turned up.

It will be fine. It always is. Love the move or hate it, there is no sense bitching about it. Best to just move forward and support the team.
