Those are the numbers of POWs/MIAs from each of America's wars this past century.The numbers on the bottom stand for what. It can't be a death count.
Death is horrible.
But can you imagine the pain of uncertainty that family members must go through?

I believe the filming crew missed the moment and asked the soldiers to recreate it.

and then of course you had the flag being placed at the reichstag on may 2, Victory Day in europe would come a week later.

There is a playground in Jersey City near the rink where Devils coach little kids...the only park/playground named after a female veteran...she loved to watch litle kids play...probably still enjoys it...btw...dad was a vet too...pacific arena...mom was europe...normandy +6...rest in peace both of you...say hi to uncle harry the seabee"It is human nature to avoid the unpleasant. Memorial Day is a day of mourning.
Veterans Day is a day of appreciation for all veterans.
