Someone's been playing NHL10 tonight. Cause that's the only place where it's a viable trade. There's no reason for Buffalo to get ten years older at the position and Marty deserves to retire as a Devil anyway.

marty MADE the devils who they are. miller would KEEP them who they are.
someone is just looking to bash marty because the answer is obvious at this point in their careers. a more appropriate question is, who do you want in goal for one game? game 7 of the finals?

The devils have a giant mural of Broduer in their arena and have built a substantial legacy around him, so trading him would be stupid and destructive. In the long run after he retires it would be better to have him on good terms with the team obviously for PR purposes.
HOWEVER.
I think for the next 5 years I would unquestionably rather have Miller. Purely as a hockey trade, I'd do it, but the costs to the Devils legacy and mystique is too great to ignore.
As stated though, The Sabres would never do this. Trading Broduer will never make sense since he's worth more to the Devils than any other team.

What if we can trade Marty for the entire Pens and Caps roster and the league gives a special exception for the salary cap, do you think the Devils would do it?

Miller actually had some good season prior to this one.
