This is what I heard about Marty, a consensus from many people. Sometimes he refuses to sign stuff or asks for little attention just because he's in a rush or something. I think that's fine.
I have heard that the majority of time he is very nice to fans. He has been extremely nice to my next-door neighbor, a young, physically-challenged, hardcore Devils fan. He plays sled hockey and once played at Smith Mountain Arena. The Devils were finishing up practice when he got there and he kept yelling his praises to Marty. After they finished, Marty went out of his way to my neighbor and gave him his stick (later he autographed it). He also sat down with my neighbor for a local news interview about sled hockey. They asked my neighbor if he could score on Marty and he said, "Of course." Marty just sat there and smiled, saying, "He probably could."
With stories like that, and that's not the only one, it's hard to imagine him not being a great guy. Maybe he's not the nicest 100% of the time, but that's not expected, at least not from me. If I saw him at a grocery store and he wanted to be left alone, I'd respect that.

From what I hear he's like a normal person with good days and bad days but generally pretty easy going. Is this true? Is this the consensus on the board? Just curious.I have heard mulitple times [that Marty's] a prick to fans.
Having been in the same room as Brodeur I find him far more accessable than most sports stars (read Scott Stevens). (FYI: I'm SHY - I didn't even acknowledge his existance) So then it stands to reason, if you're out and about more in the world, naturally there's more of a chance for you to inadvertantly be a butthead to someone
SHEEPS: A thesis on comedy would be so awesome! I find comedy to be a major marker for intellegence -- especially the Marx Brothers! What about a thesis on the comedy in the writings of Martin Luther? I was thinking about what a total brilliant fvck up he was after seeing a PBS special on his life. Has anyone's writings brought about so much anger and hatred -- and yet he could be so funny when editorializing on someone. Nowhere is there a clearer example of how distructive humor at the expens

Hey man, what's up with the tease? We talked about everything from Marty to how Montreal is. It was SO awesome. They were drinking, but I didn't drink anything. They were all drunk but that's as far as I'm going to go. I will not leak out anything she said because I don't want what she said to fall into the wrong hands. I think that would be extremely disrespectful of me.
Shoulda made something up!

I'd be wary if I were Melanine to be talking to complete strangers, let alone fans about Marty but maybe it was the booze. Hopefully she'll enjoy her stay there with the kids and try to get back to having a normal life, both of them.

Thanks Lurker

I've heard some people think he's mean to fans, but I've met him twice and he was nothing like that. He was nice both times, but the second time he was very friendly to everyone. Brodeur smiled most of the time and acted like he liked to sign autographs and pose for pictures with people (I took a great one of him and my friend that day).Is this true? Is this the consensus on the board? Just curious.I have heard mulitple times [that Marty's] a prick to fans.

wants the outlet too.. and hopefully Jay's not
like me who does nothing but wear Devils
jerseys 24/7 or something like that and he
comes off a less intimidating as I seem to come
off for some reason, more power to her for
doing it... and I also agree with Jay.... it's not
exactly something I'd stick in the recaps either
it is a tough call though.....
I saw CRASHER trip a kid on skates and then he stole the kids lunch money and slapped his mom when she came to pick him up.. All because the kid looked at his crease

Look at the championship DVD, Stevens was nice enough to stop where the Devils come out and sign a few autographs and right away, they start harrasing him and one kid is like "CAN I HAVE YOUR STICK?" LOL, WTF is that?
That was extremely rude of that kid. I couldn't believe he was so demanding about it but it's no reason for a player to be rude to the rest of the fans who are mostly good natured people. In that situation Stevens should have given the stick to some stranger next to that kid just to teach him a lesson.
