capgeek #nhl #anaducks have about $16.2m in cap space available with 20 players signed after Eminger/Voros deal http://bit.ly/9Ekq0T
Well ... anyone think the Ducks are setting up to swoop in? Apparently they could afford him and Anaheim is practically L.A. ... best of both worlds for Kovalchuk?

Nope, haven't heard anything about them being interested.

At this point, if another team grabs him, I just might be sick. I can handle him going to the Kings, obviously I'd love it if he stayed here, and I can handle it if he goes to Russia. We've been prepared for all three possibilities for over a week now. A *different* option, though? My stomach's turning just thinking of it.Well ... anyone think the Ducks are setting up to swoop in? of the Devils' mascot, NJ Devil, and
of all mascots far and wide.IT IS VERY HARD TO WIN ONE STANLEY CUP, FORGET ABOUT THREE... and maybe it's high time some of you actually APPRECIATED THAT instead of treating it like it's some flipping birthright because for some random reason you rooted for the damn Devils!!!!!

I think the Ducks have one of those self-imposed salary caps. As I understand it, that's one of the reasons they unloaded Pronger, Giguerre and why they're playing hardball with Bobby Ryan. I can't see them giving Kovy the $60-70 million he wants no matter how cap friendly the deal might be.
I guess if they were really interested, they would have done something by now.

Hello fellow American. This you should vote me. I leave power. Good. Thank you, thank you. If you vote me, I'm hot. What? Taxes, they'll be lower... son. The Democratic vote is the right thing to do Philadelphia, so do.
How do you spot risk? How do you avoid risk? And what makes it so risky?

it's possible, but i doubt it. they have the cap room but they have an awful year coming up in 3 years where basically the entire team is UFA. giving kovalchuk a 7 year/56 million dollar deal isn't going to help with trying to keep getzlaf, perry, and ryan long-term, plus putting an even halfway decent team around them.

Of course, it's just reckless speculation on my part. After actually looking at the move, it turns out the trade only cleared $125k in cap space for the Ducks, so it doesn't really look like a sign of anything at all, really. I just saw that CapGeek tweet and my Kovalfried brain started connecting dots that probably aren't there.
Although, to be honest, the idea of losing Niedermayer AND Kovalchuk after excruciatingly long waits to the same damn team ... ugh ... my stomach is churning too.

I'd love to have Kovy, but not at the expense of not signing Parise to a long term deal. If I had to choose, it would be Parise.
I'm tired of waiting but it is what it is.
If we don't sign Ilya then we have cap room to move. If we do sign him, we have no cap but an amazing talent. I am really excited about this year.

Same girl from yesterday from the front. Can't find the back pic.

Not sure if that one was ever posted. Not quite back, but getting there.
