We're getting Sarge back! Posted Image

...the more I think this'll go the way of Hossa where the contract gets registered and he begins playing its term out, but it never gets the official league stamp of approval. It's pretty nutless on the league's part, but at this point what should we expect?

It's actually pretty nutless on the NHLPA's part too. They have a CBA to follow that says how long the NHL gets to review contracts. They should be telling Buttman to shove his "investigations" where Crosby's tongue gos. Once it makes it past their "review" that SHOULD BE all she wrote.

the whole investigation thing is retarded. they can't prove anything, and even if they did, there's no actual circumvention until someone retires before the end of the contract term.

For those of you still looking for some good news to cheer you up or even to just distract you...Sarge was/is in town! At least he's still wanted in SKA Petersburg. Some heart-warming news for an old Devil-for-life, I might even add Brylin to my jerseys. :burn:

Devils still waiting on decision from league regarding Ilya Kovalchuk contract

http://www.nj.com/de...html#incart_hbx

"I haven't heard anything," Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said. "There is a time frame, but I have no idea what that time frame will be. I don't really think about it."

I asked Lamoriello if he was optimistic the league would rule in the team's favor.

"I think we've fulfilled everything, but I'd rather not comment on this until it comes to a conclusion."

CraigCustance: I was told, as of 5 p.m., that the league hadn't made a decision yet regarding Kovalchuk contract.

Let's keep it going.

they're not obligated to work on the weekend, especially when they have 3 more days after that. all the reports on saturday said, no word until at least monday. now why would that be?

Chesnokov is saying the submitted contract addressed all of the problems Bloch had, as well as those the league had, even those brought up after Bloch's ruling. He doesn't give a source though so I wonder if he's just theorizing or if there is more behind that statement. If his statement is in fact true, then the NHL should have no problem accepting the contract.
