I'm not sure how Bob Murphy ever got into the conversation, but the story behind the "Voice Of God" was that Bob Sheppard actually made a trip to Boston and announced Reggie Jackson when he came to bat, causing Reggie to refer to him as the "Voice of God" in a post-game news conference.
I'm not sure what you're referring to, as I know approximately 0 Mets lore, but if you got a story, bring it up.

You're both wrong. It was John Facenda.
But I enjoyed Bob Murphy and Bob Sheppard tremendously. Two men who were great at what they did.
