I would have to call this one a tie since I know that Marty shaped up the team and gave us so many wins since he is playing but I know that in the playoffs Stevens absolutely carried this team and was the Best leader in the whole league.

I thought Stevens too but my family says Brodeur because without him as a goalie, we wouldnt have won any cups.

Did you say without Stevens and WITH Brodeur, there are no Cups?

- Shamefaced keeper of Sean Brown - really - fiercely loyal, don't bash him - even now
- Scott Stevens Sycophant
- Militant keeper of the Ineffable System

yea but my family thinks that a goalie is more important than defensemen. i kept arguing with them saying that without daneyko, stevens, rafalski, and niedermayer... brodeur may not have been as successful

Without the world-class goalie and human WALL in Marty Brodeur we wouldn't be nearly has dominate as we are now. I base this theory on the fact that if we got Trevor Kidd instead...where do you think we would be? It's like "What if The Blazers close Jordan and the Bulls chose Bowie"? It wouldn't be the same team imo. But hey...I'm only 21 so what do I know? Lol.
Also, I too think a goalie is the most important piece within a hockey team.

While am too young to remember and while this is true I just don't picture the Devils being "the Devils" if the had drafted Kidd instead and the Flames picked Marty first.
