The Jets had the #1 defense and #1 running game in the NFL last season...and some people think they lucked their way to the AFC Championship game. The Jets were a hard luck 9-7 last year, then soundly defeated the Bengals and Chargers on the road.
"There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." -Mark Twain
#1 defenses don't play zone when the free world knows HOF TE Tony Gonzalez is getting the ball in the endzone (and that's after you let that crap team drive all the way to win each game). The Jets big talk D was eaten alive by Miami twice and New England with a healthy Welker as well as letting 2 chump teams in Atlanta and Jacksonville drive the field to win the game. Great defenses don't let that happen.
The Jets lucked out and won't go anywhere if Sanchez keeps throwing picks and continues to act lost.

hey mr. francesa
I said they were the #1 defense last year...that's a stone cold fact. I didn't say they were perfect...jet haters like yourself like to cherry pick things but your arguments hold no water. If the Jets allowed 3 points total the entire year you'd still try to contort things to find fault with them.
sanchez will be better this year, and so will the #1 defense. Bad news for anybody playing the jets

Last year, was last year. You don't have Faneca to lead the rush for Jones, who is also not there.
I forsee alot of 3 and longs for the Jets and this will tire their own Defense which had the luxuary of a ball control offense to rest last year on.

I do agree the running game won't be as good as last year...hopefully Sanchez develops some to help offset that and once Holmes comes back we'll be much better than we were at receiver last year.
The New Jersey Devils win Stanley Cups everywhere:
-NHL record for most road wins in the playoffs - 10-1 in '95 and 10-2 in '00
-NHL record for most home wins in the playoffs - 12-1 in '03

On paper though this year's defense is actually better than last year's. You have Pace missing one or two games instead of four, and added Taylor to the front seven. We have Jenkins back (at least for now) and a now-tested replacement in Pouha if he goes down again. And most importantly we improved our corner position big-time with adding Cromartie and Wilson. We got smoked in the second half of the AFC Championship last year because we had Lito Sheppard and Dwight Lowery getting punked by Garcon and Collie.

This is all true. The only thing that I would be concerned about on the D side is Revis cramming into game shape. I have seen too many "hammy's" as a result of holding out.
Does Schott have the confidence in Sanchez to air out the ball to the HUGE upgrade in talent at the WR position.

Do the Jets have a choice? This is the NFL. You can't hide a quarterback. You have to make SOME plays if you're going to be a real team.

Yes, they do. Last year, when Sanchez got lax and starting throwing to the wrong team, they pulled him back and gave him a color coded play calling arm band and they just ran the ball down everyone's throat.
This is the NFL and the margin for error is great when it comes to turnovers.
We hid Trent Dilfer and won a Superbowl.

Yeah Trent Dilfer was your playoff QB, but he didn't hand off EVERY play. Did I imagine Shannon Sharpe making big plays?
They did dial it back for Sanchez in the middle of last season, but Sanchez went on to victimize Cincinnati in the playoffs last year.

Haunted by the ghost of Matt Stover. If we had a kicker last year we win the division. A new year a new AFC North Champion.
