"He has no ego," says Lou Lamoriello, general manager of the New Jersey Devils. "I don't think he has a selfish bone in his body. It gets infectious with people around him, but that's Joe. Having him here was something very special."
------------------------------------------------------------------------
And the simple truth is this -- before and after Joe Nieuwendyk, this franchise has not been as good. Yes the same could be said for others, but Nieuwendyk's effect on his team, on his team's best players, on the fans and in the community can only be compared to, well, what Jarome Iginla is doing now in Calgary. Wasn't quiet for a concert!I went to a Devils-Sabres game last season at HSBC (last game of the season). It's a nice arena, it's HUGE! However, for suge a huge and crowded arena, it was so damn quiet, very eerie!
Although it WAS a Dixie Chicks concert (hey, sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
It IS huge though, like you say.

Although it WAS a Dixie Chicks concert (hey, sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do!) so it was all pretty much noise to me.

I had complete nosebleed seats too, for the Devils game, yet you could still hear our group's "Let's Go Devils!" chant, especially after the Marshall goal (during the game). It was insane!
But yeah, the "Let's Go Buff-alo" chant was kind of annoying...funny thing is though, the stupid voice on the jumbotron was the only one saying it, NO ONE in the crowd was chanting along with it!

Me and the girl I was with had planned a trip up to Niagara Falls and the Dixie Chicks were in town (whom she loves), so there I was at the concert! Told ya, sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
Why were you at a Dixie Chicks concert?

But yeah, being at the top of the HSBC is a scary, scary thing. You're up so damn high! And let me tell you, the players looked like ants, it's amazing I was able to make out each Devil when the game was going on. Gives me a whole new appreciation for the CAA, where there aint a bad seat in the house!
