Lemaire: Young players need to produce and be good defensively to play

“They work hard,” Lemaire said of the Devils’ young players. “They have to find a way to get points and find a way not to get scored on because you know what? If they don’t get points and they get scored on, it will be tough to win. Hopefully, the other lines won’t follow that pattern and that’s what we’ve been doing lately. That’s why we’ve got a lot of minus-20s, in the 20s.”

So, how are they different from veteran players?
There's still the chance they could have a career on another team.

They only make pennies on the dollar compared to the underachieving vets, I think JL is way off here, how about putting the spot light where it deserves to be and not on the guys that should be in Albany in the first place?
He's bass ackwards here.

this season is over, it's time to play the kids and see what they can do. hopefully he'll be forced to do this after we've traded some vets.

fire lemaire. zharkov gets 7:22, sestito gets 15:51. tim sestito is not an nhl player. he has played 28 games with 1 point. he has 15 shots on goal in those 28 games. his line as a whole, which played about 15 minutes at evens, had 5 shots. that's unacceptable.
lou takes the blame here too - he's giving JL sestito to play.
JVB's gotta be stewing. look, i don't want dan snyder or jerry jones here but something's gotta give. the season is lost but that doesn't mean you can't have useful things happen. this is exactly the time you give kids a chance.

Agree with everyone.
I'd rather watch the kids make mistakes all over the ice then some of these doinks who have no future.
We all agree here. How are these kids supposed to learn, by punishment so they have to freak out so they don't make a mistake?

Hey you guys wanted Mac out, well be careful what you wish for
Now we're not even getting the satisfaction of having younger players improve in this lost season, Jacques is still coaching every game like we're going for the top seed and retarding the kids once again.

I didn't really care whether Mac stayed or not. I knew we were sunk by mid November, regardless of who came in behind the bench.
