Ottawa (25-36-9)

7:30 ET

When New Jersey Devils center Travis Zajac takes his first shift tonight against the Ottawa Senators he will become the teams all-time Iron Man. His streak of 389 straight games passes Devils iconic defenseman Ken Daneyko.

While playing nearly five seasons without missing a game is very impressive the Devils will be focused on one thing, winning.

As the Devils continue to rise in the standings they realize games like tonight’s against the lowly Senators can be the most difficult.

They Devils have won 7 of their last 8 games. The one loss was to this same Ottawa team.

Looking to avenge that defeat, the visiting Devils look to split the season series and push another step closer to a playoff spot.

As of Jan. 8 New Jersey (33-32-4) trailed Ottawa by 16 points. They have since gone 23-3-2 to move within six points of the East’s eighth and final playoff spot with 13 games remaining. While on the other end the Senators are just trying to finish the season

Tonight’s game is the first of back to back games. Tomorrow they travel back home to face the Washington Capitals.

But tonight they’ll focus on Ottawa and hope the luck of the Irish is on their side.
