The others around the league are all free, so I'm pushing for it to be free.
Only the Canucks have one you pay for it looks like and that's to watch games right on your phone.
So, Android, iPhone and BB were the ones requested.
I'd be for a paid app provided it was fair (i.e. 1-2.99) and the purchase was worth it. It would need to have regularly updated content and incentive for the purchase. Perhaps buy the app get a 10% coupon for the Den or something to that effect. Theres ways to make a paid app work.
The issue (paid or free) is that the content needs to be worth coming back to. Ive downloaded tons of apps I use once or twice and never have a reason to use again. Thats the hardest part.
One thing I'd like to see is a fully interactive timeline of the franchise. Detailed though, not an overview. It would give newer fans a way to learn the history of the team. Perhaps a Devils Alumni section where you can click to get a profile of the player on NHL.com whether they're with the team or not. So if I pull up the 2003 Stanley Cup team I can click Gionta's name and see what he's doing now.
On Gamedays, there could be a mini-program on the app with updated lineups/matchups and current news surrounding both teams.
Farm coverage would be nice too, but that could be at a minimum. Perhaps an option to check on Albany's standings and stats.
And don't bloat it with ads and superfluous garbage like stupid mini games that people wont bother with. Keep the content useful. Doesnt need filler on a smartphone app.
The most important thing is cross platform (Android, iOs, blackberry) as everyone needs to be able to use the app for it to be worth it. Each platform has different benefits as well. It needs a good developer to pull off.
