Residents of the United States were collectively scratching their heads Monday morning after learning the Nashville Predators had won their first playoff series in their existence.
Researchers at Princeton University said they measured the highest number of people simultaneously saying “who the fvck are these guys?” in the nation’s history as they read or heard about the NHL team’s playoff victory.
“Well the baseball playoffs haven’t started. Is it basketball?” said Lexington, Kentucky resident Thomas Thornburn. “Let’s check the roster. Hmm… what the fvck is a Pekka?”
Even those who were aware that the team played hockey, they struggled to remember it’s household names like Erat, Boullion and Hornqvist.
“Oh wow that’s awesome,” said Gina Davis of Nashville when told about the victory. ”I love Cliff Ronning.”
The same was not true in Canada, however, where people from several cities had the same answer when asked about the Predators.
“That’s the team we’re going to get Shea Weber from when he wakes up and realizes he plays in Nashville,” said Fred Winters.
