    INCREDIBLE

Hughes with the amazing defensive play. In soccer that sort of play is huge now. They call it counter pressure which is as soon as you lose possession you go all out to win it back because it often will catch your opposition flatfooted and give you a odd man rush and/or quality scoring chance.
  2. He's doing a pretty good impression of peak Jonathan Toews.
  3. I thought this kind of team performance was a serious possibility next year if Hischier, Bratt, and Hughes all reached the elite offensive level. And I felt like Hischier had almost been overshadowed (just a bit, fans who see him all the time know how elite he is as a 3 zone player) because Bratt and Hughes had more shiny goal and assist tallies last year. I knew Hischier reaching a new level offensively this season or next was possible. Players as good as he was from ages 18-22 become elite (1 pt/20 min or better) the vast majority of the time. But he had not put up high shot totals so i was expecting more of a 75gm 30g 50a ceiling, but his increased shot totals are making 75gm 40g 50a look possible. Wow
  4. Nemec has not been good. https://theathletic.com/3752275/2022/11/03/connor-bedard-matvei-michkov/
  5. i have to look it over more because i didn't notice what the ratings are totally based on, but offensive statistics have to be put into perspective. Lecavalier's stats might be better because he scored 16 more goals, but he's in a better situation being used to the best of his ability. His best skill is goal scoring and he had 4 excellent playmakers setting him up - St. Louis, Richards, Boyle, and Prospal. The Penguins, meanwhile, should be ashamed they can't find a legit wing to pair with Crosby. That he could manage 84 assists without a pure goal scorer is testament to his jaw dropping, unbelievable talent. No doubt the Penguins have loads of talent, but not the right talent to best make use of Crosby. The worst part is (for fans who want to see him shine as bright as he can) the type of player he needs is extremely plentiful - Ryder, Pominville, Gionta, Kotalik, Lupul, Carter, Dawes, Callahan, Svatos, Tambellini, Jason Blake, etc.
