#1316805 The Lou Files Part 1: The Not So Good

Posted by NJDevs26 on 15 May 2015 - 03:43 PM

At least with Shero, we won't have to worry about seeing Oduya,Martin, or Brian Gionta in a Devils uniform again. Lol

Why would Oduya coming back be a bad thing?  He's a solid vet defenseman that'd complement our young corps nicely.  I guess you could say the same with Martin except there's so much water over the bridge I don't think he'd be coming back regardless.  Lou had chances to bring Brian back and didn't.

#1255756 Rumor: Clarkson's contract being bought out per Stan Fischler

The Leafs still have to pay him about 90% of his contract if they bought him out lol...if they buy him out after one season the Clarkson signing would immediately pass anything the Rangers ever did for stupidity.

#1202233 Kovalchuk Retired Effective Immediately?

Posted by NJDevs26 on 11 July 2013 - 06:36 PM

I'm going to go Moneyball here and say you can't straight up replace Kovalchuk and his minutes and production, but you can build a winning team with the right pieces. This definitively got my mood down, but I'm not ready to say this is franchise ending as some have said. Let's see what happens in the next week...better yet, let's see what happens on the ice.

Too bad we haven't even really replaced Parise yet.  We came as close as we were going to get with Ryder short-term, but now they have to replace Kovalsuck too.  And we still have zip, zilch and nothing aside from Boucher and Matteau in the system.

Now I'm glad we didn't draft the Russian scorer though, I'd rather draft another undersized Swede than deal with the moody, ruble-hungry Russians.

#867268 Fan Appreciation Weekend April 10-11

Posted by NJDevs26 on 03 April 2010 - 11:25 PM

You won't miss anything if you get there late other than the fanfest outside and they usually have the same type of thing before any playoff game anyway.

If you go in not expecting to win any prizes anyway (I don't) you'll like the fan appreciation day a little better, especially since it's a sellout and there'll be a lot of kids there.

I don't know remember what else they do inside the arena besides the contreversial drawings which take place over both intermissions, they do have the Score-O championship in the intermission periods of the last game as well where the winner gets a car.

Normally they do just give away a team poster for everyone but since it's a double weekend game, they're giving away the poster Saturday and a mini-stick Sunday.

Besides, lots of people won the big prizes for frozen over from the cheap seats so I don't think the team is being unfair even if they are weighting this particular event.

Well the Frozen Over thing it's literally who pays first gets a better chance to win the top prize choices. It'd be next to impossible for them to weight that by who pays the most for tickets if they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar giving the same first choice to someone in the lowers who pays a week later over a sth in the upper deck.

Back when they had no extra prizes for season ticket holders, the rigged in-stadium drawings were a lot more annoying but since really the Frozen Over thing is more weighted to the upper level season ticket holders (more likely to pay in a lump sum immediately) I don't mind them weighting the fan appreciation to lower bowl sth's.
