I'm as big of a Boucher supporter as there is but Boucher's not better than Ryder yet, and he may never reach Ryder's best. He doesn't need a top center to gift him looks, he just needs someone with speed on his line, someone who can get defenders out of position a little. The Devils didn't have that for Ryder for most of the 2nd half of the year.

And the player creating the space with speed needs to be able to muck it up along the boards too.

Brunner and Ryder playing together in a lot of games hurt both players since both players weak board play was exacerbated by the other player weak board play. Nobody could ever recover a puck.

I can't recall those other games specifically, but I guess you watched a different outdoor game than the rest of us because 3 and actually probably 4 were definitely not his fault in that game.  Virtually every time the Rags had the puck it was an odd-man-rush into our zone.  If you think otherwise, well, then, that says a lot.

I think that's part of the problem, not saying it's your in particular, but some Devils fans have become very comfortable with their goalie rarely making an outstanding save, when most NHL goalies routinely make outstanding saves.  An NHL goalie needs to make every regular save and a few saves that are unbelievable to have a really good NHL game.  A goalie that is just making the regular saves and missing most of the really hard ones is a little below average.  The goalie that is missing some of the regular saves and missing most of the really hard ones is very below average.

It's definitely not one guy to blame, but the Devils were more likely to gain a point or 2 on their record if Schneider had played more.

Oh, as for hitting on 16 at blackjack, we really don't have enough information here but the general rule of thumb is you hit if the dealer is showing a 7 or higher and stay if the dealer is showing a 6 or lower.

You're still going to lose 90+% of the time when you have a 16, but you get a few % back in your favor if you're following the basic rule.

The poker room is one of the only places to win money long term.  It's one of the few places in the casino where the casino makes money whether you win or lose, so they just want everyone to keep playing, who wins is irrelevant.  At the slots and the table games the casino actively needs you to lose and so only plays games where the house has an edge.
