I still find it a little hard to believe that Marty beat a Maple Leaf and Datsyuk (during his teams stint in the playoffs).. I think the voting is a bit fixed, and that they wanted Marty on the cover for what could be his final season

Also can't see them letting a bunch of fans choose a 1 year starting goalie over the goaltending legend of our generation for their cover. It's the face of their brand. I think voting is just for marketing and to be honest it's working very well

But I ain't complaining.. This will be awesome.. I hope they have posters at GameStop so I can buy one from the store manager

 

People love Marty. He didn't get the respect he deserved during his prime, but he is definitely getting it now. I don't think the voting is rigged at all...I just think Devils fans and Marty supporters pulled together really well to force some upsets. Wings fans were too busy with the playoffs to waste their time running "Vote Datsyuk" campaigns.

Wow it just speaks volumes when a nationally televised game against a bitter rival needs to have these promotions.

 

To be fair, the club seats are priced insanely high...it's not surprising they don't sell at a face value of over $250. Is it a great experience? Do I love sitting there? Yes to both, but no way it's worth $250+ per ticket. Personally, I'm just glad the team has decided to make sure those sections are full (which should create a nice environment in the stadium and will look good on TV) rather than letting those tickets go to waste.

Well I'm glad you're not our GM, because Gionta is one of the hardest working players on the team and he definitely deserves to be here.

You guys are totally over-reacting, in my opinion. In all likelihood, Kovalchuk isn't trying to make a statement about money or the Olympics, he isn't pissed about the terms of the new CBA, and he is not mad about his NHL salary being smaller because of the lockout....he just wants to play some more hockey.

Chances are that he simply wants to do all he can for his KHL team (he's the captain, after all) and put on a show for the fans at the All-Star Game before he leaves. The CBA isn't ratified, so why bother coming back to the US until he needs to? Kovy is a hero in Russia and it's because he cares about his country, his teammates, and his fans. He's not the type of guy to bail on a team, which is why he hasn't bailed on SKA yet, and which is also why he will be back in New Jersey after the KHL All-Star Game to play for the Devils.

Ive never understood people who pick against their own team.

As far as I'm concerned, if you're a fan of a team, you should pick them because you believe they'll find a way to win, even if you think they might be over-matched.

Are you kidding me? Give me a break. When I predict the Devils are going to lose a series, I'm not rooting against them - I'm just being realistic, and there's nothing wrong with that. The Flyers are a strong team, and even though I would love nothing more than for the Devils to win, I don't see it happening. Does that make me a bad fan? Not at all. I'll still be watching every second of every game rooting the Devils on. Blindly picking your team to win even when they are outmatched doesn't make you any better than those of us who predict the Flyers will win the series.

I was able to get the Colin White, thanks to a friend who was higher on the list and bought it for me. I am very happy, because I try to focus my collection around guys on our '03 Cup team and White was a player I had been wanting to get anyway, so picking up his retro killed two birds with one stone for my collection!

ok - when i called, they said they had no information on it at the time and that i could "start" a waiting list and would be contacted.

i also recall reading that they wore 3 jerseys in that game - on each period for the purpose of auction/sale.

I believe the original plan was to wear a different jersey each period (like Opening Night at the Rock), but something went wrong and the Devils only got enough jerseys for one set.

I have a feeling that this year, the jerseys will be auctioned. Whether it is one set that is auctioned, or three sets where one is auctioned, one is sold, etc, like the Winter Classic, will be interesting to see. But auction is my gut feeling. I could be wrong, of course, because MeiGray surprised me by selling the '10 retros instead of sending them to auction, where they would have probably made more money. It was a great gesture on their part to sell to the request list.

But is it unethical to claim a random drawing when it's weighted? Hey I won a huge prize in Frozen Over so I'm content.. Doesn't mean I can't point out that the random drawing didn't seem random.. I was also under the impression that the drawings were for every seat in the house not just ones owned by STH
