#1307069 Jagr traded to Florida

He should still push to move Ryder if he can and convince Zidlicky to waive his NTC.

#1305812 Devils Trade Deadline Thread

Posted by coldply123 on 20 February 2015 - 05:32 AM

I think the Devils may need to take one of those conditional deals for a first, where of the team makes the 2nd or 3rd round of the playoffs they get a first.

Don't see anybody doing that for Jagr or Zidlicky. A 2nd is probably the best we can do and even that may be pushing it.

#1269589 This off seasons UFA's and realistic possible trades

Okay, cool. Provide evidence? Elias's speed isn't there anymore, his shot isn't great, but he distributes the puck quite well and his defense is top notch at either position, but of course defense at center is more important. And Elias has said on numerous occasions that he doesn't mind switching.

He prefers playing wing and has stated it repeatedly but because he can play center he gets pushed there all the time. His best seasons have always been as a winger. Check the stats he is better at wing. You love stats but seem to ignore them when you don't like how they counteract your own presumptive opinions.

#1267406 congrats to the 2013-14 Champs, the Kings

Amazing how terrible Brad Richards has become.  Shows the high risk and folly with giving out big money longer terms contracts to guys already well over 30.

I don't see how they don't buy out Richards despite his buddy-buddy relationship with St. Louis.  Rangers fans might cry about the officials, but Richards was instrumental in not one but two of the Kings goals tonight.

And Lundqvist might complain about that goal, but for every good save or sequence he's coming up just as small in some key spots.  Goaltending as a whole has been pretty craptastic at times these playoffs.  Some big saves and a good game here or there (including Lundqvist), but no consistency in games or in series.  No goalie has really owned a series these playoffs.

Good to know but nobody asked and nobody here cares.

#1250018 We Got Rutuu

Whether he's on a bad contract or not, bringing him in for the playoff run makes it a good pickup. He brings something the Devils need which is physicality. Plus he can produce offensively too.

5 goals this season. You sir are amazing. I wish I knew how to quit you.

After losing the first...I don't know? 8 games in the shootout; scoring 1 whopping goal total....start using some random guys like a Zid or Gionta...ANYONE

Uh oh. Triumph won't like you making a valid point! The King Quack of Stats knows all!

#1082463 Devils $80 Million Debt

Posted by coldply123 on 14 January 2012 - 01:19 PM

Hopefully a decent playoff run could chip away at some of the costs debt. I wonder how much missing last year costed JVB.

Devils will have to fight to even make the playoffs, and even then it will be a one and done. This team doesn't have the goaltending situation or the puck movement up the ice to contend.

#974321 Rolston

Posted by coldply123 on 31 December 2010 - 11:59 AM

This post surprises me. I figured you would be harder on someone who is not looking at things realistically.

Agreed. How has Lou and Lemaire "breached" the trust? By giving out ridiculously long contracts with excessive trade/movement clauses? Lou and ownership sold to the hilt this season with Kovy and the Cap and it's had some ramifications I'll admit. But for Rolston to use the whole cap thing as an excuse is such a sissy cop-out for his ridiculously insulting level of play. Play good hockey and it's a moot point. You win, and there's no need for people to look behind their shoulders.

I for one have to say, I hope whoever the new GM is, clears the roster of every single veteran. They all seem to live in this la-la land that they are still in their mid-20s and that they are on retirement contracts which prohibit them from accepting any responsibility or accountability.

Even Elias and White both of whom I love dearly has sometimes had some quotes where you scratch your head.

I want a young, speedy, and skilled and dynamic hockey team going forward. Enough with the so-called veterans. Too much money for too little production and effort but a lot of drama served on the side.

The only thing Lou is responsible for is for believing in this group of players. The breach of trust screwed Lou, not Rolston. I feel bad for Lou. The veterans burned him.
