#1186464 Elias about Lou's free agents approach

Posted by halfsharkalligatorhalfman on 14 April 2013 - 12:21 PM

I hope Elias stays in Jersey.  Given Lou's track record of overpaying veteran players at the tail end of their careers, I'd be shocked if it didn't happen.

Elias wants job security and is complaining that Lou didn't offer him a contract at the peak of his performance this season like other GMs often do with their own players.  He's just venting.  That lack of job security is part of the frustration that comes with being an NHL hockey player. I don't read anything into it.

#1178063 Potential Lessons from San Jose about how to Deal with 8 NHL Dmen

Posted by halfsharkalligatorhalfman on 13 March 2013 - 12:17 PM

why? what was wrong with the Devils?

I don't want to hijack the thread. But i can go to Sharks games, the games aren't always at 4:00 PM, and I think being a fan of local sports teams is a good way to become integrated into the community at large. I still like the Devils and their players, and want them to succeed. But the primary team I'm following the NHL through is San Jose.

#1158525 What was the best trade in Devils history?

Posted by halfsharkalligatorhalfman on 11 December 2012 - 04:39 PM

i mean, can there be any doubt it's the kovalchuk trade?

Seriously? That trade was just for two months of Kovalchuk and the team didn't really properly incorporate him at all for those two months. It was a good trade and decent risk taken by the team but there's no way that's the best trade.

Kurvers for Toronto's First Rounder (Nieds) is no. 1.

#1138941 Devils re-sign Bryce Salvador

Posted by halfsharkalligatorhalfman on 03 July 2012 - 01:35 PM

He needed to add the 3rd year. Salvador said he had offers from 6 teams, went back to the Devils, and Lou tacked on the 3rd year. Bryce himself said the playoffs he had made the 3rd year possible. He had a little bit of leverage and used it.

Or they could have not signed him.

#1135696 ‏Zach Parise has agreed to terms with the Minnesota Wild

Hope its true, but I wonder how much insider info DeBoer really has.

He could have zero insider info and still be "optimistic." That statement means nothing.

Kings were better than the Devils tonight. Kings were better than the Devils in period 1 and 2 of game 1. Devils controlled game 2's regulation by a significant margin.

I'd say the series "should" be 2-1 Kings. If the Devils were lucky in game 1, 2-1 Devils.

#1126682 Interesting Kovy article

If these last two years taught us anything, it's that John MacLean is the worst coach in the history of the NHL.

They had a great year, they earned it. There's no shame in losing to the best.

#1118389 The Crow-Eating Thread

Posted by halfsharkalligatorhalfman on 09 May 2012 - 04:12 PM

I have nothing against the happy fans who don't flaunt themselves as superior asswipes.

Yeah I'm not bothered by optimistic fans. It's just annoying when you're getting preached at and told you are "not a true fan" because you aren't blindly supportive of them. I don't care for that rhetoric, because I come here for interesting critical discussion of the Devils and the NHL. If we're all just gonna sit around and talk about how amazing the Devils are even when they aren't and don't deserve the praise what's the point of spending time here?

#1117115 Triumph and MacIssac hit the big time

Posted by halfsharkalligatorhalfman on 07 May 2012 - 01:15 PM

I don't understand, did JasonMacIssac and Triumph help write this article, or is this a comment on the fact that Fenwick/Corsi numbers are becoming mainstream now?

In either case, Congrats!

Vancouver avoids the broom. Great game for Schneider. I honestly think Luongo is the one getting dealt this summer, not Schneider.

I don't think anyone would want him. Except...oh god LOU DONT DO IT.
