I would've loved for Marty to retire a career-long Devil, just like Dano, but I am not the least bit upset he is now playing for the St. Louis Blues. Marty is and always will be "The Man." His accomplishments and achievements far outweigh his shortcomings. They dwarf them.
Go Devils. ... And to a tiny extent for the time being, "go Blues." I wish tonight's game was on regular cable TV.
Dano needs to go away. Speaking in a hushed gravely whisper you can barely hear him above the crowd. Offering nothing interesting or insightful. He doesn't give you that Chico pep.
Disagree with you on Daneyko. He's been great, exactly the type of color guy most teams have, an ex-player who wants nothing more than to see his team win and is not afraid to call it like he see it. I love how he blatantly references past Devils teams that wouldn't have thought twice about sending a payback message to other teams that tried to get away with cheap shots. You just know that Dano wants the Devils to do something, anything other than skating away meekly.
Chico was good, too, in his own aw-shucks way, but I don't for one second miss him sugar-coating it when the Devils were playing poorly.
... we now have possibly the most washed up team in history. ...
I think you're right. ... I mean, I still watch all of the games, and I cheer when the team scores and get happy when they win, same as I always have done, but most nights I watch these guys and think to myself, Man, how did we end up here with this cast of characters?
I have tremendous respect for Lou's GM career, but now it's almost like he is just going through the motions.
