Some people will call Marty Hurney a sore loser, but he hit it out of the park for the most part:

Roger Goodell destroying those tapes in 2007 was the either the smartest or dumbest thing ever done in NFL history. I'm leaning toward smart for him and the league. Just like the Ray Rice video coming out, when people actually see the video or evidence, it changes everything. Spygate was swept under the rug by a Commish at the time that was branding himself as the tough guy who wasn't take sh!t. Since then, we've realized how ridiculous that is (unless of course you smoked some weed, then you will be crucified!)

I'm of the belief that the cheating in those tapes were so extensive, so detailed, over such a large period of time (we have heard rumours that Super Bowl walk-throughs and practices were taped), that Goodell felt the entire integrity of the league, it's Championship game, everything was destroyed. So, it was better to burn the tapes rather than let the genral public know how much were on those tapes. So because of that, the punishment could never be what it should have been, because if Goodell burnt the tapes but then suspends a coach for a season, makes them forfeit five 1st rounders or a year's worth of draft picks, it would be obvious how much cheating took place.

Fast forward 8 years...more cheating. I think the whole discussion of balls is stupid, most people do. The infraction may be serious, it may not be, but it is cheating. Same organization, same crap. If Goodell was going to suspend an entire caching staff for a bounty scandal (probably something that has been done by most teams for decades), then this needs to be one of the biggest punishment in NFL history (also note that Payton was suspended when every party said he had no clue about the bounty program).

You let the organization off easy for one reason or another, but it has to stop here. You can't treat this as an isolated incident. I'm hoping Bill is suspended for half a season minimum, the team fines heavily, and either an entire years draft wiped out for them, or 3-5 1st rounders surrendered. Enough with this sh!t.

Wasn't it Hurney's team doctor that was busted for handing out steroids like they were candy?  Oh yeah it was:  http://deadspin.com/...-their-steroids .

This is the problem with all of the finger pointing.  Suddenly when the story starts going dry people start looking under the fingernails of the accusers and its not pretty what is found and at best comes off as sour grapes and butt hurt jealousy at worst.

I lost my father 15 years ago. Graduated from college then week later he was suddenly gone at 48 and not a day goes by where I still don't have regrets. Good to hear that Zach and Jordan got those last moments with their father.

Rest easy J.P.

I can't believe that the Dallas Cowboys are now the least of all evils left in the NFC Playoffs.

This game was both great theatre and terrible anti-football combined.

Looks like Romo's going to have to win this game himself. Detroit's defensive front having early success against the Cowboys highly rated offensive line. Lets see what happens with Detroit backed up to their own endzone.

I think I'm starting to realize that my first assessment of "both of these teams suck" is holding true :P

I think Cinci does have a better chance in Denver next week....the Colts will get slaughtered......

Yep, would have been nice to see this game if Cincy's offense wasn't rendered impotent by the abscence of AJ Green and the TE.
