#1201407 Brodeur on the cover of NHL14 !!!

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 09 July 2013 - 03:10 PM

I don't know why you guys feed LD.

He's like Grandpa Simpson. Generally speaking a nice guy, a little senile though, often blurts out random and irrelevant things. I just read his posts and go "Oh LD, he's off his rocker again!".

"I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. 'Give me 5 bees for a quarter', you'd say..."

#1198876 Devils trade #9 pick in 2013 Draft to Vancouver for Cory Schneider

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 01 July 2013 - 08:19 PM

If he was just a young prospect I'd agree with you, but he's not, he's been in the league for a few years now and while he's not a proven commodity he's unquestionably better than Brodeur now. If the Devils got Lundqvist or Rinne or Quick would you have to make him earn it in training camp? No and Schneider was just as good if not better over the last couple years

No one said he isn't better. It has nothing to do with that. You don't want to just throw the leader of the locker room onto the bench like that. You have to give him the chance to defend his spot and let Schneider earn it. It's not a video game. The guys on the team are real people. You risk players taking sides and splitting the room.

#1197006 2013 Stanley Cup Finals

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 25 June 2013 - 11:02 AM

I saw a lot of Chicago jerseys in the crowd, and I could think was that there HAD to be a few people actually from Chicago, long time fans, who took money they shouldn't spend out of the bank and drove all night to Boston, and now have a story that they will never forget. That was one of the most amazing turn-arounds I've ever seen.

#1196891 Ranking the awkwardness of Bettman's Cup presentations

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 24 June 2013 - 05:30 PM

They should do a episode of 30 for 30 on the 95 Devils.

They should, but we all know it'd be SOOOO boring because the trap killed hockey and yadda yadda 94 forever.

#1196554 NHL Draft E-mail

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 22 June 2013 - 01:51 PM

Colin when you say stuff like STHers are the most loyal, it really makes you look like a dope. Just bc you can afford season tix doesn't make you a better fan.

Other teams fans are winning lotto tix so devil's fans are being shut out like ir or not. And I a agree with ghdi in the other thread let the draft be a reward for sthers not 4 tix for every sth who wants them.

The difference is that the season ticket holders put thousands of dollars down plus (potentially) 44 games of concessions and merchandise.

It's not about who a better fan is. They can't give tickets out based on who thinks they are better fans.

You're argument is essentially that you think you deserve to go because you want it more than other people. It's an incredibly childish view.

#1181002 Jagr?

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 27 March 2013 - 02:08 PM

What if Mike Bossy didn't have a fvcked up back that finished him off in his 30 year old year?

Gretzky may have broke his record. Or maybe he wouldn't have. 7 years averaging 50 per would have gotten him to 923. And he would have just beaten the dead puck era.

Good one. I feel like Mike Bossy is often a forgotten man when it comes to great scorers.

#1179191 Perry signs 8 year extension with Ducks

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 19 March 2013 - 11:23 AM

Whats ridiculous is you making assumption that he did something based on "nothing". Nobody knows! so my judgement based on reports from everyone involved is as good a yours "assuming he obviously did something" so who the hell are you to call me out on guesses and assumptions based on NOTHING while "at the very least" im taking the words of everything directly involved... i know damn well Lou is secretive and they could all have been lying hiding the truth but fact is we don't know that.

Lou has a LONG history of not negotiating during the season and thats exactly what he said he did and what Zach and Meehan said he did. So sorry for being such a moron and thinking thats what happen. You can go on thinking he tried everything he could based on NOTHING and ignoring how he made business his own life to make yourself feel better but stop calling me off for stuff youre clueless about bud.

Dude. Get over Parise leaving. You have been throwing this fit for 7 months. Just let it go. You are sitting here trying to say that you can run a team better than one of the most successful GM's in modern hockey. When Zach refused to sign long term in the summer of 2011, everyone saw the writing on the wall. He wanted his big payday. He hired Meehan and Arnott for a reason. He wanted big money and big years, and the Devils couldn't give him that, especially when they had questions of ownership at the time.

And I don't think Lou 'tried everything he could', whatever the hell that means. Was he supposed to get on his knees and beg him to stay every morning at practice? He probably spoke to Zach's agents, they laid out what they feel they could get on the open market, and Lou politely hung up the phone. The agents were hired to get him max return, not to help him exercise loyalty to the Devils. Remember when Zach said he wouldn't sign with the Rangers, and then he took that back the next day? That was from his agents trying to make sure they didn't lose a team that could help in a bidding war.  And don't forget that Zach was the one who refused to sign long term in 2011. I really don't see what kind of strategy you think another GM could pull off in that situation. You seem to just rip Lou, but you have no answer to how he was supposed to convince someone to take less for less years.

The reason these guys are re-signing is not because of Bob Murray 'knowing how to sign his stars'. It's because they can only get that 8th season out of Anaheim. In this CBA, a lot of guys will stay with their old team for that very reason. In both Perry and Getzlaf's case, that's another 8 million or so guaranteed.

lol dude get a grip.  we can't have this argument for the next 13 years.  the devils are fine without him.

Also, this.

#1176378 Unfortunately, some more bad news in Devils-land / Marty

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 07 March 2013 - 01:21 AM

.I mean Florida had their goalie coach suit up for a game. I don't think it's THAT far-fetched to suggest we get Terreri to come out of retirement and do the same.

Yes it is. Florida's dressed because the goalie got injured in warmups and they needed someone to sit on the bench until Markstrom's equipment showed up.

#1172416 GMs to discuss size of goalie equipment

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 20 February 2013 - 12:52 PM

I've seen Luongo lister as 6'3 and Brodeur 6'2, but it looks like they're they exact same height (if anything Brodeur might be a smidge taller) so why does Luongo need those massive beefy pads for?

#1167425 Janssen on waivers

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 30 January 2013 - 01:54 PM

I've always loved Cam's attitude and everything-it-takes approach. That kind of heart on a player with skill would be perfect. Sadly, there's just no spot for him when there are goons out there that can also play the puck. We all know Lou loves him (he was supposedly choked up when he gave him up for Salvador a few years back), but I think even Lou realizes there's no room for 2 goons on the team this year when scoring is so desperately needed.

#1162718 Canadians Tell Gomez to Stay Home

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 14 January 2013 - 08:48 PM

....but we do not know what Lou offered, so to use the arbitration figure as the Devils "offer" would be unfair

It's pretty much believed that Jersey didn't bother to offer anything once they saw the numbers that the Rags offered. Gomez signed pretty quickly that off season.

The point is I really don't blame him. I don't like that he went there, but the days of loyalty to a team are long gone about 90% of the time. Marty is one of the few exceptions, and people crap on him anyway.
