#1151872 Brodeur on Lockouts

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 21 September 2012 - 03:16 PM

I don't think we can say this with any kind of certainty. It's possible that sitting out for a full season extended his career.

It's possible, but I think it's pretty obvious that Marty is a rare breed. Only a handful of goalies play as long as he did and maintained similar numbers throughout. He had 403 wins going into 2004-05. Assuming he had 40 wins on 2004-05 (which is what he averaged the 5 seasons prior), he would be at 443 at 33 years of age. Then, add the 15 wins he probably lost in 1995, and you're at 458. He gets 44 then 48 in 05-06 and 06-07. Now we are at 550. Now, in actuality, he has 44 wins in 2007-08, before his injury season of 2009-2010.

But if we go your way and assume his body breaks down a little earlier, maybe that stays at 20. Now we are at 570 and he is 36. Now, in actuality he bounced back with a 45 win season. That takes us to 615 at age 37. Assuming you are right and he can't do the 40 wins thing anymore after this, lets say he averages 30 wins a season until he is 40 (his age at the end of this past season), which is obviously very possible. He would be at 705.

There ya go. We can say hypothetically that he could be over 700 wins. Jeez. You coulda just said 'yeah, it's a shame about the work stoppages.'

#1147371 Devils sign Bobby Butler

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 12 August 2012 - 06:26 AM

So to replace Parise, this is what get? Awesome.

The idea that losing Zach Parise means you just sign a player and throw him into Zach's spot is ridiculous. There's no way to directly replace Parise. This is a low risk depth signing with a chance of a high reward.

#1141285 ‏Zach Parise has agreed to terms with the Minnesota Wild

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 05 July 2012 - 06:08 PM

Really curious what everyone would say about Marty if Lot didn't pay him and he went to the Habs???
Regardless of how you feel about ZP, there is a huge void to fill. Not sure who Lou could convince to play with the Devils, but he needs to get it done.

IMO.....Kovy has no business wearing the C. Way too many turnovers.....pretty much a defensive nightmare. A leader has to lead by example......bottom line!

It would have sucked if Marty left, but I think a lot of people would have felt that he'd earned it after nearly 20 years of loyalty. A lot of people are upset because Zach left at his first chance and after a stressful 4 days of back and forth.

As for Kovy... Leading the team in scoring on the way to the Stanley Cup finals with a debilitating back injury isn't leading by example? That's pretty much the leadership you should want...

I don't want to hate Zach, but he's making it very difficult to not want to hit him with a hammer.

#1137176 ‏Zach Parise has agreed to terms with the Minnesota Wild

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 01 July 2012 - 11:26 AM

I guess what burns me more than anything is Lou did not have to give Zach captaincy last year knowing there was a good chance he would test free agency, also your financial situation they knew was bad prior to trade deadline if Zach was not going to let you know he was going to sign Lou should have traded him for low round picks or something it's not like the team was playing like a Stanley cup champion at the time. It just is weird to name him capt then lose him for nothing!

That's way too much 20/20 hindsight, though.

#1133468 Drew Doughty

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 20 June 2012 - 08:55 AM

You people right away claiming she's a money hungry whore kinda makes me wish yous wrap your cars around a pole tonight, or better yet on your christmas morning. Yeah its impossible for an athlete to have actually raped someone......kobe, big ben. Do you people actually know someone whos been raped? I do. And guess what, they want to get that persons face out of their head, and definetly not call them on the phone like the police asked. Thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard, the police asked her to call him on the phone? You know why so many of these scumbags are never prosecuted including the one i know, because the girl is too embarassed and ashamed to face that person again. You people are obviously fortunate enough to not have someone close to you be a victim of something as disgusting and infuriating as this, but from your comments it also shows how insensitive you pieces of filth are by your comments. I knew this forum was filled with dorks and old men whos wives dont touch them, but now its apparent that its also filled with people who immediately stick up for alleged rapists. Please do me a favor and head directly for your sink and drink every product under it. No actually wait until your parents or childrens birthdays then do that.

Wow. So you're going to wish death on a bunch of people you don't know because they didn't come to the immediate reaction and response that you did. What a sad, sad little man. Here's one for you... I have a buddy who had sex with a girl one night. Turns out she had a boyfriend. When the boyfriend cornered her about where she was the night before, the girl claimed she was raped. Even though ALL of the evidence pointed to her making it up (witnesses, physical evidence, the fact the she had multiple partners that night, etc), they bought the story and an innocent man served jail time. So take it down a notch and stop being an over-reactive dunce. We have investigations so knee-jerk reactionaries like you don't string innocent people up over what you think they did.

I do know a couple of people who have been raped, by the way, since that seems to be your only criteria for who can or cannot comment on things.

#1126628 We WILL win the cup

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 31 May 2012 - 04:23 PM

The fans who come across as apathetic, I wonder if perhaps a lot of them are just so stunned that this year's Devils team even made it to the SCF, and maybe are also a little spent from beating the hated Rangers in the ECF, that they haven't gotten themselves up to speed mentally on how close the Devils are to becoming champions this season.

I think apathetic is an unfair description. I, for one, said I'm proud of this team no matter what happens this round. I will be at the games cheering for them, and I want them to win it all and end this run the right way. You never know when they will get this close again. I'm happy to be here, but not JUST happy to be here. This is clearly some of these guy's last shot and I want them to get it. Saying that IF they don't, I'd be disappointed but not on suicide watch doesn't make me or any of the other people saying similar things apathetic. It's just an appreciation of what's already happened to this point.

#1122592 Matteau defends his goalie

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 22 May 2012 - 10:43 AM

Okay, pal, this is where I draw the line.

If the Rangers want to be gay, that's nobody's business but their own.

If they want to celebrate each win by getting naked, oiling up and having a congo line through the locker room, that's up to them.

If they want to spend off-seasons in Key West, Fire Island or San Francisco, I say....good for 'em!

If they want to see how far they can get a lubed hockey stick up...ya know...that does not concern you!

New York Rangers...I may hate you for what you do on the ice...but I support you in your fight against homophobia.

BE PROUD TO BE GAY!

#1118427 Parise

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 09 May 2012 - 05:29 PM

I think there are three issues that Parise needs to think about. MONEY let me say it again MONEY, Brodeur is he number 1 next season, if yes, he bails and Vanderbeek's financial mess.

I'm impressed. LD found a way to make Zach leaving Marty's fault.

#1117048 Flyer fans

Posted by Devil Dan 56 on 07 May 2012 - 10:45 AM

Some people take the "us or them" and "this is war" mentality a little too far.

I'm all for cheering for your team and drowning out the Flyers fans, but I watched 2 Devils fans provoke a group of Flyers fans and start a fight simply because they cheered when the Flyers scored. What's the point of that? To make it 'miserable' for them? I just don't buy it. I'm not getting into a fist fight over a pee pee contest at a hockey game. In the end, 90% of the people just want to watch the game.
