#1302562 Brodeur Interview with Gulitti

Posted by Devils Pride 26 on 30 January 2015 - 01:45 AM

Last quote there is a great one. Can't imagine how tough that must have been for him. It's easy for us sitting here to say Marty doesn't have it anymore and Cory gives us a better chance to win, but not for legends of the game.

In the end, it really goes to show how much of a Devil Marty really is. Realized he still wanted to play, and didn't want to screw it up for the long term for NJ.

Stop me if you've heard this one before - black kid in hockey thought to have a bad attitude

The tri/sd saga heats up for 2014/15 as tri calls sd a racist before the season even starts. Back to you in the booth, Steve.

Just kidding guys. Not trying to stir the pot, couldn't pass that one up.

#1268292 So Apparently The Rumor Is Kovy Could Be Coming Back

Posted by Devils Pride 26 on 12 June 2014 - 10:07 PM

Stored my Kovalchuk t shirt in the bottom of some stupid never used drawer. Pulled it out today to find a fabric softener sheet tucked inside. What does that tell me? He'll be back, and he'll be fresh.

I'm in favor of bringing back "You suck" if only to yell at fellow Devils fans who aren't rooting for the rangers to be eliminated as soon as possible

Totally unfair. Unless you are saying Brodeur is not a great one. I can't think of one series where Brodeur ever found a way to win a series by himself or was the big difference for an underdog Devils playoff team.

Hate the Rangers. Hate Lundqvist, but let's not bring him down unfairly.

2003 Ottawa comes to mind right off the bat. People talk about Hank like he's a tremendous big game player or the second coming. Even the "king" moniker. What exactly has he won? In ten years in the league he has one trip to the conference finals where he was out dueled by a 40 year old

#1263713 This off seasons UFA's and realistic possible trades

Posted by Devils Pride 26 on 07 May 2014 - 10:39 PM

We should do what we should have done a couple seasons ago and get Jussi Jokinen. Pitt got him from CAR for a conditional 6th or 7th round pick. Insane.

Hard to nitpick things like this, 28 other teams could be saying the same thing. Playing here is a hell of a lot different than Pittsburgh.

Well it's almost too late in that regard - Parise is having the best playoffs of his career. He's really tearing it up, but unfortunately Parise and Suter alone can't make an average team elite.

Maybe personal numbers and such, but for team accomplishments and such I hope he never gets another trip to the finals and gets knocked out ASAP.

I don't root against Parise out of hate for the guy, I root against him because I want to see his best success coming here. I want players who leave NJ to feel like they made one of the worst decisions of their lives.

#1257792 2013-2014 Lineup/Roster Thread

Posted by Devils Pride 26 on 01 April 2014 - 02:46 PM

Yeah, he gets my appreciation for what he's give the team but that's where I draw the line. We have too many defensemen, he is one of the "too many". There are plenty of other Dmen in the A who can be a 7th Dman. Alexander Urbom comes to mind and then there is the case of Adam Larsson. I do feel that the time Larsson has spent in the A has benefit him as he has performed well while being in Albany. Some guys in our D corps have to go to make room for the younger guys pushing the depth chart.

In an unrelated note, Clowe is only DTD, thank god.

I don't buy I single thing the Devils say about injuries. Remember when Parise was DTD, how about Martin, Clowe the first time. I'm sure there's many more I'm forgetting

#1245002 Fire DeBoer Thread

Posted by Devils Pride 26 on 09 February 2014 - 05:55 PM

Thats not the point of them still testing it, its about Lou getting options for himself knowing they could walk. Going blindly in negociations and waiting last minute when a guy can just tell himself "well im gonna wait a week or 2 and see if i can get more" Lou has put them in that situation where he had absolutely no leverage. What other GM took that risk? Look around the league and look at all the top players that we're about to be unrestricted, they were all signed during the season or prior. You simply can't take that risk unless somehow you REALLY have to.

So now rumours about something Lou related has to be taken like its cash? but when there's trade rumours that the fans are not up for they call it bullsh!t cause nothing leaks from Lou.

lol this fanbase is so much fun. They just really take what they want when it's working for them and ignore the rest when it doesnt.

plus even if its true. Lou can be a hardballer when he wants to, you think Getzlaf and Perry's agent didnt think he could get more in the summer? Somehow they got it done. And so did all those other guys around the league.

Plus the financial thing excuse doesnt really work cause the refinancing was still not done and settle at the trade deadline and Lou offered a good deal, he was in the same financial situation than before the season or in the middle of it.

Rules are hell of a lot different now than they were then. Lou could've given Parise a blank check and it would not have mattered. He was leaving. Go ahead and rip Lou all you want for not trading him. Anyone who wants to win does the same thing there, I don't care if I knew for sure he was walking, I'm not trading him at that deadline.

YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME - if GMs had your mindset it would be nothing but perpetually building for the future.
