Based on some of the posts lately this fanbase needs a few more shots at it. Read the threads on this site.

There's a thread with a dude pissing on a Devils jersey - its is a disrespectful, ban-worthy, embarrassment to this site.

I expect that from Rags and Flyers fans - not us. I understand the shock for a few days - but - Have we become a bunch of whiny spoiled children?

Go ahead, trash me because it says "LA" in my profile - but I'm really surprised at a lot of folks here.

A bunch of posters trying to read tea leaves into press quotes by Parise as to whether he was deceiving the fanbase, attempting to rewrite history with even the most eloquent of posts? They did it to Langs and they're going to do it to Parise. Master conspiracy? Bad Captain? This guy worked harder than anyone else on the ice every night - and every player said so! He was what drove this team.

Can't we thank the guy for his contribution? Can't we repsect his hard work?

I don't care what anyone here says - the most important thing at the end of the day is to be able to hug the people you love. That's what life is about - relationships. Zach wanted to be closer to that, for his future kids and family to be able to be together as a unit.

I'll never criticize that. He's earned it - more than many many players. Wish him the best of success in MIN.

He was skating with his grandkids after practice when the team was practicing in LA for the SCF. They seem to be between 5-8 years old.

He's done SO much for us - he's earned the right to be a Grandpapa the way he sees fit.

That's the issue. You crap on him when he is down but never came back to say you might have been wrong. You crap on the board for being spoiled fans who complain too much and are negative, yet you were AWOL the entire playoff run and never pump any tires of anyone on the team.

As for your logic. You want them to pass on Parise to try and get Yandle by trading some other good forwards while we watch Elias decline, Clarkson obviously regress, etc. Doesn't make much sense at all. The Devils simply don't have what it takes to get Yandle anyway.

It was a bad penalty kill. sh!t happens. The Devils were out of gas, and there were a few mistakes. Big deal. That penalty kill is fvcking irrelevant when it comes to any personnel decisions for this team moving forward.

As for offense from the back end. Zidlicky is a gigantic upgrade over a full year. And others have said Larsson has some nice offensive instincts as well. No one is relying on some magic Salvador run, and that's why he is probably gone in just over a week. But those kind of magic runs happen to every team on a Cup run.

Things like this are why I post less. Posters who want to go head to head about posting personalities rather than hockey issues.

1. Has Greene been better - absolutely. He is miles different than AG 2008. I really didn't think he was going to be able to live up to that contract but so far he has. I really didn't think one was contractually obligated to "pump up the tires" of players they have at one time thought were liabilities but apparently this must be somewhere in the fine print here. My original post had nothing to do with Andy Greene but whatever.

2. AWOL in the playoff run? Seriouslly, some folks (not all of you) have no idea what its like to be a fan of another team outside of the area. Not that those of us deserve any kind of award - but for many its a much different sports fan experience. I have a job, your local NJ games start mostly at 7pm for you - sometimes by the time I start watching a game after work its 9pm PST and 1am at its end. I watch every game.  After this, I'm often too drained to jump into the GDT and add comment. This playoffs was a worldwind for me. The coinsidence of NJ vs. LA was amazing. I went to every LA game, I saw every Devils LA practice. I moved work commitments to catch the Devils players at the buses. I still haven't processed through the whole experience. You guys get to see the Devils EVERY WEEK - for me its once or twice a year - and I haven't seen a Devils playoff game in almost 10 years. We never get to meet them or have them sign anything - much less talk to them (Staples Center is locked down) .It was really big and also expensive. If I didn't have time at the of the day to come here and "pump some tire" (i.e. "You my boy Henrique!") I'm sorry.

Now, with the personal issues out of the way.

My primary concern is not having a guy that can lead the defense until AL is ready. That's a lot of pressure for him.

With Volch's lessened minutes, and the possible departure of Salvador - who becomes that anchor, that stability?

Too bad DinLA had to bear witness to this fvcking jip job, I hope he got the fvck out of there and didn't stick around for their bullsh!t party.

Guys, I have so many observations from what was easily the most painful Devils game I have ever seen in person.

What I DO want to say quickly, is that I didn't bolt like some beaten pansy.

I stood proud with my NJ jersey on gave the Stanley Cup the respect it deserves as it was presented and passed around - and I kept the damn thing on the whole way to the parking lots despite the taunts. I think thats the way it should be.

People yelled "Devils suck", "F the Devils" - but it didn't matter to me - they were few in number.

Lastly I will say this - SOOO many LA Kings fans stopped me and said "Congrats on a great season", "Hell of a series", "Great game man", "You've got 3 cups - be proud", "Brodeur - what a great career - hold your head high". I was utterly impressed at how classy everyone was. Not one guy rushed me or did more than the expected trash talk. SO different than a NYR or PHI attitude. The kid next to me that I wanted to punch the whole game - put his hand on my shoulder at the game's end and said "You really do have a great franchise there - congrats on a great season". That type of respect changed my attitude in an instant.

I KNOW folks are pissed - and thats natural - so was I and I'm really not trying to be the "Devil's Advocate" -  but I do want recount my experience.

The feed didn't do the crowd justice - firsthand - they did scream so loud that I had to block my ears.

Its OK to hate them - the rivalry just got MUCH deeper - but I can say I appreciated the respect, and think it could have been a lot worse with the fans.

But seriouslly - I'm spent.

Watched the practice at Toyota Center today about 2 hours ago.
Make no mistake - scratches came on at 12:40; team @ 1:00pm.
Hard practice, lots of passing drills, lots of boardwork drills. An interesting passing/one timer drill with the forwards lined up like a game of horse in front of the net.

Dave Barr worked a lot on blueline defensive boardwork with Larsson and Carter. They were smiling and having fun.

An interesting heated exchange between Cam and Boulton at the end when the scratches remained - but it seemed to simmer down.

Kovy is noticeably labored in skating and shot speed.

Lou watched a good portion of it from about 2 feet away from me while eating a chocolate bar. I asked him how he was holding up and he replied simply "OK".

Larry was in a good mood and signed a lot of autographs later at the bus.

TSN was shooting there and Dreger, Bmac, and Co. were all present.

Most folks stopped for autographs at the bus except MB30, Elias, ZP, Yayo (got right on the bus) and Zubrus.

I kept my distance to give the guys some respect and a wide berth given the situation.

Surprisingly, not a tense practice.

All I can say is one step closer to SC Final Games I can actually go to!

I've had him on ignore since the midway point of the season, I believe we were in the middle of a skid in perhaps December. He and SMT3 were screaming bloody murder because the Devils weren't on pace to go 82-0, and I tried to respond politely and constructively but was continually met with idiotic .GIFs and pop culture references that were completely irrelevant and added nothing to the discussion. It was at that point I realized his posts were useless to reply to and I put him on ignore. Unfortunately users continually attempt to refute all of his brilliant theories and I have to read his stuff quoted in others posts.

I rarely do this but:   "+1"

That and his frequency to scream "bloody murder" after freely admitting he hadn't even watched the game....


By the way, "Pie in the Sky", to me at least, is always compared to the expectations at the outset of this season with a questionable D le by a 18-yr. old, no Zajac, and ZP on a one year deal. The projection was bubble team or low seed - we have already exceeded "Pie in the Sky". Anyone thinking this team is VAN or BOS of 2011 is deluding themselves. Enjoy the ride - remember where we were last year at this time - so far I have zero complaints.

This whole fiasco has been bad from the get-go. I can understand trading Fraser, but trading Pelley was stupid. He worked game in and game out and was miles ahead of the crap we call 4th liners now. So we package him with Fraser for a package involving Foster who's a bust and then package Foster with Pamlieri who could have developed into a decent 4th liner. To top it all off we end up with a washed up 34 year old turd who Lou is furiously polishing by claiming he's a "top 2 D-man." I'd be totally in shock if this doesn't end up being another Nic Havelid/Martin Skoula trade deadline bust.

This phrase screams of someone who doesn't watch any hockey outside NJ or just reads box scores.
I'm not saying that MZ is the answer, but this is far and wide not another #7D D man trade.
MZ is probably the best puck mover this team has seen since pre-Oduya, if he can even return close to pre-2012 form.

The fact that this guy REALLY wants to play here means nothing to folks as well? How many threads are constantly posted here of players who even subtlety allude to anything they even remotely liked better about their new team vs. their time in NJ.

I give Lou credit in showing ZP that he's putting effort and making this team a competitive team NOW - not in 2015. That and any playoff depth beyond the 1st round would do wonders.

Fair trade - taking a risk - shows the fanbase and ZP that NJ is never a "content" franchise.

The Devils don't have the pieces for a Bouwmeester deal.  Calgary is still trying to get into the playoffs.

It has been speculated that Feaster called a team meeting after CGY's -  EDM and PHX games. The message was sent that if things don't improve over the weekend that some drastic changes may come about.

While I agree we don't have the pieces in value, Bou has a NTC and might waive to go a former coach if Feaster was entering a true rebuild and pressed for a deal.

Much of this is hypothetical of course, but hence beginning my OP with and "off-the-grid" move by LL.

The reason so many of us are upset with the recent losses and seasons is that since Lou got here HIS philosophy has been about being better than the rest, always having the goal in mind of winning the Stanley Cup, and that losing isnt acceptable, being good isnt good enough when better is expected. Pat Burns said it best back in the day "other teams are OK with losing, but not the NJ Devils, the NJ Devils are a different organization where losing isn't tolerated"
That's why we have high standards as fans, it was set by Lou not to accept mediocrity.

Guess what? Lou is not a superhero. It was lip service and a nice quote - but that's all it is.
He has no more control than any other GM - trying to get the right pieces to make things work.
He can help that the team didn't suck for 3 years to get #1 picks.
All Teams lose, all franchises transition.

With all due respect, this dude makes these GDT's really annoying.
He pisses and rants if we lose to a team we "weren't supposed to lose to" - like the world is ending.
He pisses and moans that we're pathetic if we lose to elite teams - even if we put up a competitive effort.
Folks here have tried to say it in "nice" ways, "chill out", "try to relax", "I'm worried about your health".... now its just getting annoying.

If you can't handle a loss don't watch the games - teams lose - its understandable to be upset. We're all big fans and upset - but please try to find a more productive way to vent it.
