What Bernier did this year is pretty cool. He tied his career high in goals tonight (16) and tied his career high in points (32). But he's only played 65 games this year, as compared to the last time he scored 30 points in which he played 81 games ('08-'09). Bernier has not been this prolific since 2006-2007. This is 8 years later and he's coming off 12 points in 78 games last year. Good for him.
I can never figure out how someone named Matteau#32 is a member of a Devils forum. That should not have been permitted during the registration process.
Every few years, someone always negatively brings up Matteau's Rangers fandom as being a reason as to why he shouldn't post here. Listen miftz, you are starting out as a fine poster on this board, so don't go down this road; Matteau has been around here waaayyyy longer than you and has waaayyyy more clout on here than you as of now. Don't ruin this board by telling posters who are fans of other teams that they shouldn't be posting here. We have already lost enough of our non-Devils fan posters over the last 4-5 years. This is an open forum where fans of all teams are welcome. Sure his user name might be a bit obnoxious and trollish, but he nonetheless is a valuable contributor to the board.
Don't forget Mad Max 4, which from what I saw in the trailer looks to be a rehash of The Road Warrior (aka Mad Max 2).
The new Mad Max looks fantastically done and produced in line with the original's feel. People love to hate on the idea of remakes, but it is pure demand that is driving their creation in the first place. Sure, many of the remakes suck and many shouldn't have been done, but remakes in and of themselves are not blasphemy or necessarily bad.
Well I have been to my first Devils game. Wasn't the smoothest of experiences (my fault, massively underestimated how long it would take to get to NY Penn Station).
But I did enjoy it a lot. Thank you Bonginator11 for the tickets :-) the seats were excellent and we got to see the devils shoot in the shootout.
In terms of the crowd, it was quiet. My Girlfriend was looking forward to the atmosphere (she is not a hockey fan) after our trip to a DEL game in Cologne over Christmas. But she was just amazed at how little people were into the game. And I have to say it was quiet.
I understand it is Tuesday , against buffalo, with snow, but even after the shootout everyone just bailed.
One thing that did surprise me was the amount of children at the game. It can only be good for the future of the team. Hopefully the Devils can work to put a decent product on the ice to keep them interested.
All in all I really enjoyed it. And I am looking forward to Fridays game to hopefully get there in time to go to the shop and rake some pictures.
And yet even in a miserable season, you brought luck to our team. Sure, we might have played the worst team in NHL history but I am going to go ahead and give you credit anyway.
This game under Deboer would have been 6-1 or something. But the coaching staff was able to motivate the team enough to at least making this a real hockey game. Nashville and Chicago had to earn their wins. The Devils didn't just bend over. They put up a legit fight. They didn't do that under Deboer enough.
Henrique has probably been the most disappointing forward this year. Yeah, he's 2nd on the team in points, but he's really just not making a difference out there too many nights, and he's getting creamed territorially. He's a 2nd/3rd line LW. Anyone hoping for anything more from him is going to be disappointed.
I don't think anyone imagined after the bright spots in 2011-12 that the Devils would not have a single player in the top 120 in scoring just a few years later. To think that Steve Bernier is tied in points with Travis Zajac with 7 less GP and that 86 year-old Jagr has more points than Adam Henrique in now his 4th full season, well...this team is just scoring retarded and something needs to change. There isn't one forward on this team that should be untouchable as far as the trade conversation goes. Not one.
This thread is fvcking ruined. When the greatest Devil ever retires, can't we just have a thread where we show our appreciation for him? Really, Marty just retired after a twenty year career of greatness and leaving us with memories to last a lifetime and some of you can only comment on how his time with the Blues ruined everything? fvck off.
Rich Chere had some interesting comments about Marty on Hockey Central the other day. Paraphrasing, he said that if you talk to people close to Marty, the 700 wins is way more important to him than he is letting on to the media.
As others have pointed out, I don't see any way he is getting there this year. It's a shame that the lame half season lockout a few years back seems to be the difference in him not going out a Devil for life.
How were you able to understand Chere with all of the sh!t dropping out of his mouth?
