#1293062 GDT: 12/4/14 New Jersey 76ers vs. the team that will beat them

Posted by Neb00rs on 04 December 2014 - 09:59 PM

Is it bad that all I can think right now is "how are the Devils going to blow this lead?"

Clarkson hat trick?

#1292171 Gomez Has Arrived

Posted by Neb00rs on 01 December 2014 - 12:40 PM

To help our goal-scoring/injury issues, we signed a guy who has 6 goals in his last 123 games . Between Gomez, Zubrus, Clowe, Ryder, Havlat, Ruutu, and Salvador, we now have possibly the most washed up team in history.

The fan in me likes it though.  :smilegah:

#1290807 GDT: Devils at Calgary 10 PM

Posted by Neb00rs on 23 November 2014 - 01:00 AM

I think a big part of the reason that a lot of people on here are so angry this season is because some of the most popular posters on here have repeatedly offered untruths that the masses have followed:

for example:

"It's all Brodeur's fault, if Schneider starts just a few more games than last year, we are a lock for the playoffs"

"The Devils don't blow leads more than anyone else"

"The shootout failures are a complete anomaly"

etc...

#1273266 Significant FA's Remaining - Any Interest?

Posted by Neb00rs on 10 July 2014 - 01:40 AM

For 1 million I wouldn't have minded Heatley - I know people here disagree but to me, he's still only one year removed from a 50 point pace. He could put 50 up for the Ducks, who knows?

Btw, I though the OP was going to say 'STEROIDS'.

#1268779 Marty and the Queen Have a Drink

Posted by Neb00rs on 14 June 2014 - 08:27 PM

I think we all know that Lundqvist is a phenomenal goalie. The Lundqvist dissing is because he's a rival, his fans dubbed him "The King" in arrogant fashion, and many of them act like he is the greatest goaltender to play the game since Richter (who is one of my all time favorites). Our guy won 3 cups and 4 Vezina's and his fancy nickname is "Marty". Or fatso, although I never got how a 215lb 6'2 guy was considered fat.

Anyway, as Devils fans we had a terrible season overall from top to bottom and I think this near-miss of the Rangers losing in the finals has earned us an excuse to celebrate SOMETHING. Sure it's petty and immature, but so is ripping on a 600-plus win goalie because of an affair he had over a decade ago.

#1268735 Marty and the Queen Have a Drink

Posted by Neb00rs on 14 June 2014 - 03:36 PM

No one said he wasn't a great goalie. But can we just have a thread where we rip on a hated rival who hasn't won sh!t in his career, be it his fault, not his fault, whatever? This isn't really a thread for serious debate/discussion. Its a thread to rip on a rival we can't stand.

This exactly. MD2020 on point as usual. It's the day after the Rags lost, we can celebrate for a bit, especially after all the a$$hole sh!t the do. We aren't going and throwing it in their faces.

I'm really tired of the pervasive elitist attitude around here that says "We actually shouldn't hate the Rangers but the rest of you are too dumb to understand why. Now I have to make you all understand that Lundqvist is a good goalie"

Defending the Rangers is fine to do on this board but don't come a marching into Rangers suck-type threads telling the rest of us we can't have fun.

Edit: If we are still making fun of Lundqvist for yesterday's goal in one year's time while the Devils are out of the playoffs then y'all will have a point and we will have become what we most feared: Ranger fans.

Here's to you Marian Gaborik. You were diseased, you escaped, you rehabilitated, and you became a champion.

#1267768 So Apparently The Rumor Is Kovy Could Be Coming Back

Posted by Neb00rs on 09 June 2014 - 09:50 PM

No way 29 teams approve. That would set a bad precedent. This story was dead in the water the second it hit twitter.

Not that I think it will be easy to get no name back in the league but your perception of 'precdent' is flawed. There are also implications and perhaps stronger precedent set by blocking the Devils from bringing no name back.

fvck me, fvck this; the LA Kings are winning this game 5-4 and then going on to sweep the most embarrassing franchise in the history of pro sports.

#1267279 Martin Brodeur Will Test Free Agency: ESPN

Posted by Neb00rs on 07 June 2014 - 04:05 PM

Brodeur's manipulation of the press is also Favre-like.  'I don't want a trade - Lou would have to come talk to me' repeated ad nauseam, and here he is talking about teams he wished he could've been helping.  He very badly wanted a trade last year, he just couldn't come out and say it.  He very badly does not want to play for NJ next year.  But he doesn't rule it out.  And the saddest part is that NJ wants him back.

Look, Favre established the gold standard of uncertainty wrt retirement.  That's not what everyone's on about re: Brodeur and Favre.  The reason they are making the comparison because it is a great player who does not understand that he is finished, and the NHL might not recognize that either.

I can appreciate your point, but by your definition of 'Favre-like' there are a whole lot of Favres out there. This is all a reach. There is no point in comparing Marty to the Favre situation. All I see is you guys trying to figure out how you can maybe, sort of, kinda connect him to Favre. What you say Marty did with the media might be true, but it is not Favre-like. Period. As far as there being a connection between players who are done but can't realize it, well the Favre-Packers situation was actually a pretty difficult one. Favre was still good (see: Minnesota VIkings) but the Packers had another future HOFer on the bench. The Minnesota thing was bad, but only because he signed with a huge rival of the Pack. If Marty signs with the Rangers or Flyers I'll will concede a bit on this point.

What people are saying is that it's best for his legacy to just hang it up now and stop embarrassing himself. He doesn't HAVE TO do this. If he can squeeze some more NHL paychecks out of this and doesn't mind looking like a fool. More power to him. I for one hope he signs within the division or conference. Easy points for the Devils whenever we face him

Again, I can't really disagree with this. It just has nothing to do with Favre. I don't like how Marty has handled all this, I just don't expect him to give up and retire because I feel that way.
