#1066545 GDT Devils at Panthers

Kovy was horrible tonight outside of the first period. The guy just stands in one spot and watches Parise/Henrique hustle their asses off. Everyone in the building knows hes just waiting to get off a one timer from the top of the circle so why doesnt he just move around, get in on the forecheck, use his backhand, drive the net, etc...

Duhhh.. Kovy, if you really haven't noticed, is a slap shot scorer.. He can dangle extremely well too, but his slapper is elite.. That's why I think he and Zach shouldn't be on the same line - Kovy needs guys who can feed his shot consistently, and Zach needs guys to get pucks either on net so he can bang one home or get him a a breakaway pass

Both superstars with different ways of scoring, so don't get on him for that

Oh look.. Another article from our buddy The Post.. While I refuse to believe anything they say until a reliable source confirms, I would definitely be happy with a billionaire owning the team over a 400 - 600 millionaire that's for sure.

Interview with NHL VP Mike Murphy - He actually says something along the lines of "Sure, when you slow the replay down then you see it came to a stop, but you have to look at the play in real-time" It's at like 1:15

HOLY F***ING SH**!! So he's saying you have to look at replays in real-time?! WTF do we have replays for if we should only look at them in real time?? The damn ref on the ice is there looking at it in real time!! That's such a cop-out BS answer that I've lost all respect for replays.. The point is to get the damn call right!!

What I essentially got from this was "We did everything we could to ensure we had an excuse for giving the Flyers a chance.." Seriously, after the officials called a penalty on the Devils after every somewhat-physical play last night, coupled with the fact that we are continously screwed by replays (anyone recall the Clarkson "kick-in" against Ottawa last season that has been allowed at least 3 times since then against us) I really hate to say someone has it out for us but DAMN, the evidence is there

Yes, he did stop. But the puck didn't, so it's totally fine. Or something.

But I thought it did stop.. I see him skate up, then put his stick in front of the puck, pull it back about 3 or so inches, and continue on.. To have the puck move backwards even the smallest amount means it had to have stopped

********

Side note: I was at the game and their fans reactions were hysterical.. Not only were they chanting "A$$HOLE" at the refs who would eventually side with them, but they had NO IDEA why it was being reviewed.. I had to explain it to the guys around me but they didn't seem interested in "logic"

“Let’s put it on my headstone that I won’t go to Newark for a preseason game,” Pronger said in what has to be the best line to come out of Flyers camp this month.

I tried looking for more quotes like this from Pronger but they aren't at the top of Google searches.. I know he's never missed an opportunity to bash the crap out of our team.. Should I take the high road on this one? Eh, I guess.. Will I? **** that

Right now the system is not working correctly. Very frustrating. Looks like another amateurish ,lame activity. Lots of kinks to work out.

It's working fine for me.. Check your lame computer  :P

He got 2 assists and a goal, so he is passing and others are taking shots.

+1

He's no longer taking the puck up ice by himself and trying to dangle 1 against 3.. He's saying "Screw my stats. Whatever helps the team is fine by me" so he's drawing the defense towards himself and then dishing it out to the open man.. Great thing is, if the defense backs off him to guard against the pass, he just rips it home

#981281 Devils Alumni Charity Games

Posted by Colin226 on 17 January 2011 - 03:38 PM

I did the PA announcing for one back in October. Everyone had a smile on their face, one of the coolest experiences ever. They played the champions of the league I play in, who won the championship game something like 12-3, and had them at 8-0 in the first period.

They were just lucky the Devils Alumni weren't trying

Another reason why I do not and did not want the Nets at the Prudential Center.

Because you KNEW there would be a blizzard and the Devils would want to reschedule the game but there would be a Nets game.. All hail   :hail:

This thread is making me lol too much.. I feel like Crasher.. Between the people saying the Devils should make decisions for their own fans' safety rather than having the adult fan do it him/herself AND using this to hate on the Nets, who are bringing our team and arena more money which we need now that the Devils can't draw at all, I'm dying

Next we'll hear at games "We'd like to take this time to remind fans to use the restrooms so they don't soil themselves. Also, if you feel a rumble in your belly it means that you are hungry and should eat. Just looking out for you guys because we realize you can't think or make decisions for yourselves."

I won the same Frozen Over prize for the LA Kings game in January this season. The Platinum Lounge was pretty cool, Chico came out and mingled with some people before heading up to call the game.

I renewed my season tickets for next season last Monday and on Friday I get an e-mail from my account rep saying that I won the first Super Prize Drawing! I won the Helicopter ride and 4 tickets to a Devils vs Rangers game next season! So I'm happy as hell   :yea:

Wow dude... I'm jealous.. Congrats

I always wondered what the damage would be to get in the lounge for a single game. Did you take any pics?

Tried to but it was very dark in there so they didn't come out.. It's a very nice, quiet setting with couches and high tables.. Same food as in the fir and ice lounges, but because it is so exclusive you don't have to wait and they never run out.. Private sushi chef too.. Nice bar area with wait staff to bring you your drinks..

What I hated was that my brother and I were the only people wearing jerseys.. And some of the people down there didn't even leave to watch the game.. But hey, I had a good time

Here are some pics from the team.. Click gallery on the bottom http://devils.nhl.co....htm?bcid=19543

What did you win Colin?

2 tickets in section 19, row 9 with access to the Platinum Lounge.. Only way to get platinum lounge tickets is to buy them to every event at pru center for the year or buy 10 of them for a game at like $350 to $500 a piece.. It was the best sporting experience of my life, so of course we renewed mere hours after 2010 - 2011 invoices went up

Back when they had no extra prizes for season ticket holders, the rigged in-stadium drawings were a lot more annoying but since really the Frozen Over thing is more weighted to the upper level season ticket holders (more likely to pay in a lump sum immediately) I don't mind them weighting the fan appreciation to lower bowl sth's.

Good point

Random can still be weighted.  If I was doing the drawings I would certainly weight things based on ticket prices.

Besides, lots of people won the big prizes for frozen over from the cheap seats so I don't think the team is being unfair even if they are weighting this particular event.

But is it unethical to claim a random drawing when it's weighted? Hey I won a huge prize in Frozen Over so I'm content.. Doesn't mean I can't point out that the random drawing didn't seem random.. I was also under the impression that the drawings were for every seat in the house not just ones owned by STH

fan appreciation day has never been awesome and what you described about how "random" the drawing is certainly seems correct.

It felt awesome when I went a few years ago at CAA.. But yeah in the uppers we were laughing hysterically by the end because MAYBE 3 of the 25 - 30 prizes given out were in the upper sections.. And of the 3, 2 were like posters from previous giveaway days... We were only laughing on the outside.. Hurt pretty bad on the inside

If this year's drawings are as "random" as last year's I'm complaining to my ticket rep.. He always seems to answer my concerns well
