#1285539 GDT: New Jersey Devils @ Pittsburg Penguins 7PM MSG

Posted by jagknife on 28 October 2014 - 07:48 PM

The fact the people are seriously blaming Cory is unreal.

First goal = 100% his fault

Second goal = 5 on 3 PP with the worst PK in the league

Third goal = 1-on-1 laser beam after the defense let Hornqvist behind them

Fourth goal = Breakaway

Fifth goal = Unlucky broken play bounce through traffic

I have to know what game some of you are watching because NO GOALIE is getting 3 of those. You could argue the breakaway but breakaways to me are always on the defense. I just don't get half of these posts. I don't know what some of your expectations are for a goalie.

I still pull Cory though. He doesn't deserve to be hung out to dry like this.

Absolute and unyielding perfection game in and game out apparently

#1282133 Tough story on Michael Ryder's brother's mental issues

Posted by jagknife on 14 October 2014 - 02:19 PM

Mental illness is brutal. Luckily my family seems to have escaped it. But policing for 25 years, I saw it up front and it is bad. Some friends too, including a good friend of my wife who killed herself. She was married with 2 young kids. Dreadful.

My friend's mom killed herself a few years back, a few years after a divorce.

I used to be a teacher before doing my current job and talking a student out of doing something harmful to themselves was one of the scariest things I've ever had to do.

I have the utmost sympathy for families and individuals having to handle types of mental illness [whether it be from birth or developed later on in life].

I know many folks around here still hate LA for 2012 and frankly they didn't even bother me that year.  They beat the Devils in a hard fought series and that's it.

I see so many similarities between this LA team and the great Devils teams.  Stud goaltending, great defense with transition, opportunistic goal scoring, players who know their role and play it within a team game, fearless underdog attitude.  I've got nothing but admiration for the stones this Kings team has.

+1 This

#1265880 Doc in NHL 15

Anyone else think it'll be nice to not hear Clement talk about how we won the 2012 Cup when you play as the Devils?

It was bad they let it in NHL 13 and even worse when it was still in the damn game last year.

Also, I'm beyond thrilled McGuire isn't the one doing the between the glass.

#1221190 Devils getting rid of R&R part 2 as their goal song?

Posted by jagknife on 30 October 2013 - 12:01 PM

Well, as long as we're going down that road, this oughta be the goal song:

I hate you with a freaking fiery passion for posting this song and resurrecting it from the pits of hell

EDIT: For old time's sake, "will someone close that goddamn gate already!?"

Booing again after both goals. apparently from section 209.

Some of our fans are absolutely pathetic.

#1176851 RUMOR: Devils interested in Dany Heatley?

Posted by jagknife on 08 March 2013 - 09:34 AM

I'd love to start a twitter rumour that's completely BS but has a legitimacy to it...and then see how long before "Insiders" are reporting it.

been there, done that. NHLLine.ca stole my completely made up Jokinen to Buffalo for Afinogenov at the draft 5 years ago, rumor.

#1055764 Opening Night White

Posted by jagknife on 11 October 2011 - 11:20 AM

White t-shirts cost less than red t-shirts. Maybe not by much, but when you're giving away 17,625 of them in one night, it adds up. Just sayin'...

What I don't understand is, many other fan bases around the league have absolutely no problem with participating in a white-out or a (insert team color here)-out. Why do Devils fans think they're so special? And don't try telling me that red would have gone over better; half of you would have worn white just to be contrary.

Best example of this: Nashville fans.

None of their jerseys were gold last year, not even their first 3rd jersey which was that nasty mustard yellow.

Team promoted a "Gold Out" and handed out shirts. 99% of the fans, whether they were in a $600 suit, $400 jersey, or their favorite NASCAR shirt, put on the damn gold shirts. It looked awesome.

It's unreal how people are justifying not wearing a shirt because of what they paid for a uniform. Congrats, you're refusing to conform to the rest of the team because you've already paid to conform by buying a red jersey that at least a doezen or so people also have. OH NO! I'M NOT ORIGINAL ANYMORE!

I broke out a jersey I hadn't worn in almost 4 years to make sure I wore white. The Nordiques Nation guys who sat quitely behind me in 104 even put on their white shirts over their blue NN shirts. I'm sure they paid $20 for those. I know I've said it before but the fact the so-called Supporters [aka the ones who rode the coattails of last years movement by joining the bandwagon with STHs] couldn't even put on their white or even wave the damn shirts just shows my point.

I get along with a majority of the people on this board, but as a whole, our fan base is beyond disappointing.

No offense, but it actually bothered me that the Supporters or "Diablos" didn't even wear white. There were only a handful in that section donning the white, let alone the free shirts.

Sorry, its pretty petty, but if you're going to call yourself the official supporters, you better support what the team's trying to get going.
