#1203696 Kovalchuk Retired Effective Immediately?

Posted by SterioDesign on 16 July 2013 - 09:25 AM

the best fvcking thing now would be one of those "Hitler's reaction" video and freaking out... starting like...

Hitler: with the new signings we did we're in good position and our improve offence led by Kovy will bring us back to the playoffs!

*everyone looking at each other *

other guy: My Furhe.... Kovalchuk just announced that he's retiring from the NHL, leave the Devils and will likely sign in the KHL.

etc etc....

lol done right this could be fvcking perfect and epic... the freaking out, the rage... then the part at the end where he's just discouraged and saddened.

here's an example

his last line is hilarious

#1203647 New Playoff Format/Divisions

Posted by SterioDesign on 15 July 2013 - 08:40 PM

to make it clear.

• 2 divisions in each conference

• 2 divisions of 7 teams in the West and 2 divisions of 8 teams in the East

• Top 3 teams in each division will make the playoffs so thats 12 teams

• The last 4 teams getting in will be the "wild-card teams". The 2 next teams with the most points in the conference will get in too.

• Matchups will be the winner of the division with the most points will play the wild-card team with the less points... etc etc.

• The teams finishing 2nd and 3rd in each division will play in the first round then the winners of each series will play for berths in the conference championship series

•  so within your divison youre playing 5 games against 2 teams and 4 games against 5 teams.

so basically our division is Devils, Rangers, Islanders, Flyers, Washington, Columbus, Carolina and Pittsburgh. So we'll have to be in the top 3 on that conference or be the best wild-cards... Not gonna be easy but lets hope some teams sh!t the bed it could help.

edit: oh and yeah with the new schedule we're playing every teams in the league twice i believe. A home and home against all teams.

dude sounds legit, i'm sure details of devils negotiations leak out all the time

do you think we believe this 100% when we post those? who cares ? its just rumoured numbers that we can discuss about, if those discussions are not high enough on your superior standard, well stay out of it thats all. Lot of us here just like to talk and discuss about those rumours. Not harming anyone and its entertaining.

You're like that guy that you're watching action movies with and all movie long going "oh yeah, as if thats possible!"

We're here for entertainment dude.

#1200824 Ryane Clowe signs with the Devils. 5 years. 4.85 per.

Posted by SterioDesign on 06 July 2013 - 04:45 PM

I see how a lot of these UFA's want to go play for their "home team" when they get the chance, I personally would probably do the same thing. If I were playing for the Canucks or Ducks and I became a free agent, I would love to come back east and play for the Devils.

I think Lou should take this into consideration before that player leaves, and work out a trade to that team. Clarky is a perfect example, we were having a bad season last year and could have shipped him to the Leafs for their playoff run. We all seemed to know that he wanted to play for Toronto, I'm sure Lou knew too, and they couldve sat down and had a man to man talk about it.

We draft/sign these young players and build them up....only to see them bolt for nothing, and then we have to over pay for "replacements".

i'm 100% with you on this. Most will disagree though.

Just take the Sharks last season, very very similar situation than us and perfect example (we we're actually having a worst season than them). They were in the race for the playoffs and still traded Clowe cause they knew he wouldn't re-sign there. They still made the playoffs and wouldnt have done much better with Clowe either. They got 2 second round picks and a 3rd. I'm sure we could have got even more for Clarky.

And well that some admit it or not... turns out it would have been the best move to do for the franchise. We recovered pretty well with Clowe and Ryder and all i think we have a good team for the next few seasons but again... a few extra picks in that draft or prospects would have been pretty sweet.

#1198986 CLARKSON SIGNS w/TORONTO $36.75M / 7yrs

Posted by SterioDesign on 02 July 2013 - 08:44 AM

Would anyone be happy if the Devils signed another team's free agent that's hard stretched to reach 50 points in a season (really hard stretched), isn't particularly good on the power play, isn't used to kill penalties, is a terrible passer, and has a habit of taking bad penalties...all for top 6 type dollars?  Because that describes David Clarkson.

Let someone else overpay and be saddled with the low returns on a bad contract.

he was so bad that he was our top goal scorer and 5 of his goals were GWG. That tells a lot about our depth and why we should just be happy to see him walk.

i get that he was not the best player in the world but some fans here REALLY sound like they want to convince themselves that he was sh!t. Just like that butthurt girl who just got dump saying "pfff i never really liked him anyway" eventhough they've been together for 5 years.

#1198919 Devils trade #9 pick in 2013 Draft to Vancouver for Cory Schneider

Posted by SterioDesign on 01 July 2013 - 11:51 PM

Yeah, we're on the same page here Beez. This has gotta be it this year for Marty. I'll cry like a baby at his last game, but now that we have the answer moving forward, Marty needs to do the right thing for the organization and step aside after this season, one way or the other.

I almost had tears watching sakic's ceremony when they retired his jersey in colorado, and i NEVER even liked the guy, my dad was a nordique fan so sakic was the ennemy... Plus then 2001.. Meh...

But anyway i cant imagining when its gonna be marty's turn, who i idolized all my life.. Point is ill be 30 when he retires (if he does after next season) but godamnit im gonna cry like a baby for sure haha

#1198040 Larsson and the No. 9 for Letang???????

Posted by SterioDesign on 30 June 2013 - 10:29 AM

i'd be willing to trade Larsson for the right deal. I keep telling myself that he's young and will get better but i simply don't see him having all the tools to be worth where we picked him or be franchise dman. His speed his average at very best, his shot his average, skating his average, his aggressivity is below average. He can have the best vision in the world and outlet pass, not sure it's compensating for what he's lacking and i dont see those areas of his game improving "that much" over time... to be a true top Dman you need more than that IMO. He's gonna be good for sure, but franchise dman good? i dont think so, i dont see it yet and im aware of the whole niedermayer thing yes. but nieds had incredibly above average skating, speed and vision who could compensate.

#1197818 Summer 2013 UFA/RFA Thread

Posted by SterioDesign on 28 June 2013 - 06:08 PM

Unless they really heist someone with this deal, It's a step back for many seasons.  The Penguins just cannot go out and replace Kris Letang on the free agent market, players like that almost never come available.  They'll just waste James Neal's prime dithering around with mediocre talent on the backend.

Well if they are gonna lose him anyway in one season cause they can't afford him. Thats the thing, you have one year to make it worth if he stays, then if you're not the team lifting the cup. You lost your gamble and you lose him for nothing. Now thats a major stepback.
