I've personally been a little preoccupied with Rutgers football... huge game this Saturday against that team from Pennsylvania.

Not to go too OT but:  Any PSU grads frequent these forums?

I'm a PSU grad who attended when they first joined the Big 10.  A lot of my extended family are Rutgers Grads, and I was happy for them when they joined the Big 10.

That being said, if this is going to be a real rivalry, it has to grow organically.  Knowing the geography (and there were a lot on NJ residents attending when I went), its good on paper as far as I'm concerned.  I was furunate to be there with some good teams, but I didn't feel their rivals were legit until a few years in.

I think your're going to see a lot on Blue in the stands.  Heck, I even tried to hit Stubhub, but it aint worth $140 to me.  I know the irony in this statement since I hate when I see that in Newark.

There are more Ranger fans on LI than CT. The fact that they made it to the SCF while the Isles continue to suck also doesn't help. What happens when they move they still continue to suck while the Blueskirts remain a better team? They aren't gonna convert Rag fans in Brooklyn...Think that is what AEW is talking about...better for the team to star anew in a different state but in the tri-state area than moving into Ranger territory.

Oh the irony

The shame of all this is that if everyone was a bit more flexible there was a really neat solution to the Islanders problem that never really was given thought: moving them over into CT and give a rebirth to the Whalers. They'd have been able to keep much of their Isles fan base while adding the orphaned Hartford Whalers peeps. Sure, everyone wanted them to stay on LI, but that has only sorta happened and they've had to settle for a long term attachment to a mediocre arena instead of getting something really made for them (not to mention potentially combining two passionate fan bases). Maybe I'm off base but I think this would've been a good idea.... Owell.

Scratching my head on this logic.

My Isle fan friends can take LIRR to Barclays Center right from work. Hartford, not so much

I'd bet you they're shooting for 700 as much as Marty is.

Interesting fact.....when the show started, I was Bart's age, now I'm Homer's.  I can't say I've watched it on purpose in the last decade, but those early seasons are brilliant & I've just filled up my DVR with a bunch (I'm kicking myself for missing Homer Goes to College).  If it ever was taken off the network, it could get the Futurama treatment and be new on cable.

I guess now that they're sure to stay in the area, Wang decided to finally get out. I still think its obsurd that they're shoe-horning the Isles into Barclays though, that's a disaster waiting to happen.

The pictures from last year's pre-season game were telling.  You could be sitting 2nd tier, center ice, and people's heads still block your view of 1/3 of the ice
