#1213966 The Devils Should....... (fill in the blank)

Posted by NJCroMag on 06 October 2013 - 10:16 AM

...take a hop to the left, and then a step to the ri-i-i-ight.

This won't help them win games, but it sure is a lot of fun. And easy to remember, too!

#1212980 The Three Tests For Peter DeBoer

Deboer?  Taking tests?

I wanna see the guy who wouldn't take the test!

#1209048 What's your favorite hockey movie?

Posted by NJCroMag on 04 September 2013 - 10:12 AM

That monkey performed during the intermission at a game in the Meadowlands in 2000. He skated around on the ice and shot the puck a few times.

Are you sure it wasn't just Lyle Odelein?

Any of our board goalies get a phone call from Pittsburgh the last 10 minutes?

Yeah.  Recognized the number, though, and let it go to voice mail.

#1188764 Concerts

Posted by NJCroMag on 25 April 2013 - 06:37 AM

They were all just in NYC last Saturday. Unfortunately I already had tix to a different show or else I would've liked to have checked them out.

I used to be a big Suicidal fan. Saw them many times. I know Mikey is the only guy left. How'd he and his band sound? Did they play a lot of old stuff? How Will I Laugh Tomorrow is one of my favorite albums ever.

The band themselves were pretty tight, skill-wise, but the sound was off.  The bass was really prevalent, and the guitars practically buried in the mix.

I chalked it up to a soundman issue at first, but they never did correct it...so maybe the band wanted it that way (?).

Mike's still a really energetic guy on stage, but his backing band surprised me as well.  They were all over the place.  Not quite up to the energy level of Sick Of It All (who are BEASTS on stage, and are still at the top of the game after all these years), but pretty darn impressive nonetheless.

Here's the setlist from the show...a good mixture of old and new (but nothing from the "Art Of Rebellion" or "Suicidal For Life" CDs):

Although not noted, the drum solo and "Pledge..." were actually the encore.

#1181370 All trade deadline talks & rumours

Posted by NJCroMag on 29 March 2013 - 10:34 AM

I just called the Dallas Stars front office and demanded to speak to Jaromir Jagr so I could get to the bottom of these trade rumors.

The woman told me she couldn't do that, then asked if there was anything else she could help me with today.

It sounds like she's hiding something.  Will call again in another few minutes and pass along information as it becomes available.

#1174413 It's time, bench the entire team.

Lou needs to start thinking about firing DeBoer.

If you were standing in front of me right now, I'd make a fist with my left hand, clench it really tight until it turned fiery red, rear back with all my might and...

...punch the wall, right before telling you exactly how displeased I was with that comment.

#1165345 GDT: Philthadelphia Failures @ New Jersey Devils

Posted by NJCroMag on 23 January 2013 - 07:24 AM

"I didn't hit him too hard," Simmonds said. "I just gave him a little push that I kind of thought he over exaggerated, and it worked. He is one of the best goalies who ever played. He can do whatever he wants in this league."

Sounds like someone needs a hug!

If the Devils are able to get the puck into the Flyers goal more times than the Flyers are able to get it into the Devils goal tonight, I will feel much joy and goodness in my stomach and loins.

#1156070 Presidential Election Poll

Posted by NJCroMag on 07 November 2012 - 07:34 AM

I stand by my prediction of a landslide of Carter-Reagan proportions. It's common sense.

Not one single McCain voter from four years ago will vote for Obama in 2012. But Obama will lose votes from several blocs because of his horrid record: Hispanics, women, white men, Catholics, Jews, small businesspeople. It's going to cost Obama every swing state, plus more. People are going to be talking about how inaccurate most polls were.

Watch as Pennsylvania and Wisconsin fall into the Romney column. Watch New Jersey and Nevada be nail-biters.

Let's watch and see.

GHDI, laugh like Biden all you want, get ready for the shocker on Election Day. It's over.

I say Romney gets to 315 or 320, with Romney getting Pennsylvania, Ohio and Wisconsin. All these states are tight according to several polls, and I think the enthusiasm to fire Obama will be the difference that pushes all of them to Romney. Wishful thinking? We'll see.

So we can all agree it was just wishful thinking then?
