So I guess if the Devils acquired a Kovalchuk like player, there'd be skepticism that he'd be the guy? Why even bother acquiring 'franchise players'?
Schneider might only be an average goalie, and yes, there'll probably be a statue of Brodeur outside the Prudential Center in the future. Trouble is, there's been a statue of him in net for the better part of the last 3 years.
He has still been noticeable. He is great at rushing into the offensive zone. Getting passes to the points and is a good puck possession player in the dirty areas. I love his game. He must be re-signed in my opinion.
And to his credit the entire team hasnt been impressive, they all fell off the map at once.
I posted this in another thread but we could all use a good laugh and a fun thread. What 'zones' can you come up with for the Devils?
Clarkson would have a "failed toe drag attempt" zone near the blue line and a "keep head down at all times" zone behind the goal line. Kovy would have his "stop on a dime on every rush" zone just passed the blue line on the left wing boards.
That's one of the first 'tricks' I could do when I was 9 years old. Very very easy. For whatever reason I dont like it when you are trying to win a NHL game, its impossible to get the puck up and the goalie will just cover the bottom. I know hockey is suppose to be entertaining but for me that wasn't exciting at all because I know how easy it is to pull. If a Devil tried to pull something like that I would be livid. Daugavins didn't just do that to try to score but he did it to turn some heads as well. That's a very low percentage shot on a cheesy trick, I don't like it.
I am sorry, but I am probably in the minority, the guy looked like a dope when he tried to pull that.
